Will sekka hinoki survive in hot dry climate, with temperatures reaching 120°? Where I live is like a desert with somewhat cold winters and very hot summers. I recently bought a 3 year old sekka. Thank you
Hello, Master Koide. I am from Taiwan. I am wondering if I have to cut off the tips of the twigs where the leaves have grown into something like a ball of leaves. besides the leaf ball is solid. I remember you told us to cut them off. I did it, but the leaves turned into "balls" again. What should I do now? And what leads to it? Thank you
I just want to thank the lady behind the camera for asking the master questions while he is working on the trees. I learn a lot from this!

Hello Master Koide! I now have some Sekka Hinoki plants with lots of shoots at the top of each tree, is it possible to make cuttings at this time of year please, it is still warm here in UK so hope it might be possible? Thankyou!

Thank you for watching the video. Thank you for taking on the challenge of raising Sekka hinoki. A temperature of 20°C or higher and 30°C or lower is most suitable for work that puts a heavy burden on the roots of the tree, such as cuttings and cuttings. You can't get results unless you try it. Even if you fail, it will surely be a good knowledge for you. Please try many challenges without fear of failure.

@@chasaokoidesbonsaich3571 Thank you so much for your reply! I will accept the challenge! I have 6 trees so I will take cuttings from 3 of them and the rest I will try next year as they will only get stronger! I have watched the cutting videos and will use your master technology with water moss and Akadama. Sekka is rare in UK, I hope to make great trees with your teaching! Domo arigato gozaimasu! Hello first of all I want to thank your time providing information in these videos. I would like to ask about thickening the trunk of sekka hinoki, I don't see any sacrificial branches in all the stock you show in the video, yet they seem to be mostly in "training" stage. In order to thicken the trunk of Sekka Hinoki, is it better to use regular prunning to develop more branches, or can we use the same approach as the other species and leave a sacrificial branch to growp up and then cut it back? thank you in advance!.
@chasaokoidesbonsaich357110 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching the video. From the content of your question, I think you have studied very well. This video shows young trees in their 3rd and 4th year of cultivation. After completing the shape of the tree a little more, proceed to thicken the trunk. Your thinking is correct. However, various failures will also become your knowledge, so please do not be afraid to take on challenges. Please keep doing a good job.

@chasaokoidesbonsaich357111 ай бұрын

It would be greatly appreciated if you would provide some guidance on how you care for your cuttings. Do you put them in a greenhouse to root? Or do you just put them out on the bench with the rest of your trees? Do you mist them regularly or just water daily with the rest of your trees? I have just taken about 15 cuttings and placed them in morning sun on my bench with my other trees. I usually water daily and mist them several times each day. I read that cuttings taken in June usually will root in July. Thanks you.

Thank you for your comment. It seems to be well taken care of, and I look forward to future growth. It seems that the cuttings were worked on in June, but it has been about a month, so additional water absorption with a sprayer is unnecessary. Please water the same number of times as other bonsai. After rooting, it is explained to separate and plant them one by one around September, but if you are worried about rooting, you can do the work in early spring (around April). In early winter it is important to protect the bonsai from frost. If you don't have a protection room, you can do it under the roof. We wish you good luck.

We will answer your questions. As you can see, the cuttings are kept in the same place as the general bonsai. Drying is irrigated when the soil on the surface is dry. Be careful not to use too strong water pressure, and irrigate gently. that's all.
