Unfortunately Redfall still suffers from its greatest drawback, the fact that it was a game nobody asked for and is interested in.

I appreciate your follow up on this game, since almost no one talks about it anymore. What really comes through is the massive unrealized potential that was squandered by Bethesda. It sounds like Arkane had a tough task, and there's a lot that I do like about the game, despite the frustrations. It's a tragedy. I hope that someone picks up the idea to make the game that could have been.

Hopefully modders can take over…

I grabbed it for $10 a while back. Only played it a bit, will restart it with the patch.

lol no one ever asked this game to be release, I mean what the is "redfall" anyway? 2 word with 2 syllable with no purpose other than catchy for ez marketing campaign. "red" for blood because it's vampire stuff. "fall" for idk society falls maybe? which literally every video game setting. so dumb

Damn, this game had its whole lifespan before I got around to trying it even once. Oh, well.

Shame the offline mode won't have coop. The game had potential but was unnecessarily grindy. Even basic modding support could have made a big difference.

Man in thankful for this review and the honesty because it made me realize that I don’t want to play this game anymore.

So we've come to it. Redfall < Anthem We REALLY need to bankrupt these companies.

This game was set up to fail from the moment Zenimax made it a live service. On top of that, when MS took over they made no effort to seriously salvage the project and instead let it flounder and die, then canned the developers for a disaster they wanted no hand in. Tragic, really.

This was good. I've recently got into reading some grimdark fantasy stories and I couldn't understand why all the characters were so detestable. No one is a good guy.. there's no happy endings. It's really interesting, but kindve a downer..

11:54 I made an OpenMW that fixes that for spells (and also for high damage weapons) via basing your XP in the amount of magicka consumed (spells), damage dealt (weapons), damage taken (armor) etc. I didn't manage to cover all skills but you might wanna give it a look! It's Skill Uses Scaled in the Nexus. Oh and there's other mods that do magic XP scaling, but so far as I know only S.U.S. does weapons and armor 👀

The lighting kills the retro look for me, pass.

I was it was made for ios so i could play it on my ipad with keybaord and trackpad or if they added dit on one of the ipad emulators now supported by apple. Seirously since getting the magic keybaord i dont even touch my mac much less my older pc which probably could run this game but i want ease of access and portability and the ip[ad provides this for me.

Regrettably nothing new and original is coming out these days. Take XCOM, reskin it by adding zombies. Even the health bar is the same. In addition, semi-animated stills which are presented as story telling cutscenes simply represent the minimum effort in my opinion. Disappointmet after disappointment summarizes my current experience with PC gaming (Homeworld 3.). We will most probably forget this game within a month after release.

I love the esthetic and the general feel of the game, I really appreciate devs adventuring in this genre with this style. With the little I now, I can see that the amount of work here is outstanding. I think the game would have greatly benefited from some more character animations. Animation is becoming more and more like a second thought or something you can compromise, not saying is this devs case, but in my opinion, it adds high value and immersion to any game genere and style.
