I’m disgusted by this ad. As a soap maker I find it offensive that you disregard the hard work and effort that goes into creating beautiful hand made soaps. The soap in this ad may well be a mass produced soap, but saying soap in general as a gift is bordering on bullying and just plain nastiness to all of us who put a lot of time and effort into our craft. Myer, you won’t be getting my business this Christmas or anytime soon for that matter.

As a soapmaker and an ex-Myer employee I am very disappointed in this advert - putting down soap as a gift is really upsetting for anyone who puts hard work into making nice soaps as a special treat for someone. Even if the soap in the advert is a commercial one (Myer sells commercial soaps like this by the way) it is telling people that soap is not a gift idea and not worth buying. Not impressed Myer!!!!!!!!!

I have an idea for MYER. With the decline of the Department store thanks to online shopping, and Youth preferring brands such as Cotton On, Universal & H&M to buy their clothing, if I were the current CEO of MYER, I would actually look into the possibility of creating a new subsidiary of MYER to compete against these other brands and appeal to Youths & their trend of clothing. This would also still keep MYER's presence within the retail sector. This subsidiary would focus primarily on clothing. Homeware, toys, & furniture would not be sold at these smaller upmarket subsidiary stores. Also, although they would be an arm of MYER and part of the Coles-Myer Group, this new subsidiary wouldn't be called MYER. In addition, online shopping for this subsidiary of MYER would also have its own independent website with links to the MYER website for other products generally sold at MYER Stores and on the MYER website, there would also be links to the website of this subsidiary. With Department stores in decline, I think Myer could look into this, and this Youth clothing brand subsidiary idea of mine would include secondary smaller CBD stores near existing MYER stores, as well as at both Major shopping centres that don't have MYER & also outlet stores like at DFO & Harbour town. In addition, some underperforming MYER department stores can be downsized and rebranded to the smaller subsidiary. The Subsidiary would also sell some clothing products already sold at MYERs as well as other clothing products aimed at Youth and the types of people that you would generally find at Cotton On, Universal, or H&M, such as selling Converse shoes, basketball caps, and jackets. This would be a way of attracting young people back to the MYER Brand and would as such, bring back profits for MYER. This subsidiary's parent company would be MYER which is in turn owned by the Coles-MYER Group. This will not compete against Kmart or Target, which is also owned by the Coles Myer group. Kmart and Target are slowly coming together and focusing on low-cost products. This subsidiary of MYER on the other hand would focus solely on premium quality clothing, like at Cotton-On, Universal & H&M, and would also have a strong focus on online shopping through both its own identity and website, and would contribute to the Coles-MYER Group through its MYER Parent Company. In addition, MYER Gift Cards would also be accepted at all stores of this new subsidiary brand, which would also be a win for customers and will really help the brand expand and appeal to shoppers. What are your thoughts on my idea?

So beautiful, I can tell that these products are made with love and it really makes all the difference. I live in Aspen, Colorado where the air is so dry and the elevation makes it hard to stay hydrated. As an esthetician, I have worked with the best products around the world and I will honestly say that the noni glow sleep mask is one of my favorite products. The scents in the algae moisturizer and the tumeric are also nice yet subtle. I am addicted!! Thank you Miranda for putting that extra love into your products.
