Did you ever noticed a smell on the subwoofer at high amplitudes?
@SOUNDINTHECITY4 ай бұрын
I have… and the new speaker I last installed had a weird smell for the first 2 months.
@Jonas-kj1ke4 ай бұрын
@@SOUNDINTHECITY actually I'm glad to hear that noticed a smell from mine since day one I bought it, but thought it was normal for a subwoofer to smell when it's new bc I never bought a new one before. The smell also did go away mostly but when I add a lot of gain it still produces this wired electronic smell. So I did some research and found I person with had the same thing and got a answer from yamaha that the speaker should never smell. Now I'm very confused and reached out to the seller a couple of hours ago. Also did research on what could produce the smell, found out that this thing called voicing coil burns of the insulation around it when it gets to hot. That makes sense bc it does make the smell only on high amplitudes. Really frustrating for something at this price point to do stuff like that. How would you describe the smell I know it's not easy to pick up in words.
@Jonas-kj1ke4 ай бұрын
@@SOUNDINTHECITY and also read that comment that you did blow out another shit men I'm very sorry to hear that. There must be something wrong with the amp. I think there is something like a limiter missing else that voice coil thing also should not start to smell. And I don't get why only very few people are getting that problem... Maybe not all of them are build the same or it's just we them canking up so much hahaha I'm using mine for dj sets and listening to super bass heavy stuff and edm production so it really gets driven a lot

@@Jonas-kj1ke I don’t think this subwoofer was made to handle low end from Rap or EDM. I first blew out the speaker listening to some reference music and played it too loud and the speaker coil got burnt out. That electronic smell we are probably talking about. The new speaker does make a electronic smell when being used at high volumes, but I’ve continued to use it in that manner. At this time the sound is fine, but the smell is definitely faint.
@Jonas-kj1ke4 ай бұрын
@@SOUNDINTHECITY i think theres a limiter on both our subs missing. Youre completly right that the sub isnt build for that, but becouse of the limiter the sub should never reach the point of a smelling voice coil. Reached out to the seller and he wants me to send it back to him for a repair or what ever. He also mentioned if he cant find anything he charges a fee of 50€. Dont know right now if i should do it, bc the sub now only produces the smell at very high volumes now. But the limiter should still take action, and limit the too loud signal. What do you think about that?
@kylemartins78026 ай бұрын
Had a rattle in my sub for the longest time. Now it just stops playing sound at all. Speakers still work great plugged in through the sub. Is it a fuse issue, or did I blow the woofer? I'm only asking because I'm about to buy the replacement to do the exact thing you're doing in the video??
@SOUNDINTHECITY6 ай бұрын
From what you wrote, I would imagine it’s the speaker that’s gone out. Usually when the fuse blows, it cuts power to the unit to prevent damage. Best wishes on your speaker purchase and install. It’s pretty simple, just follow the video.
@kylemartins78026 ай бұрын
@SOUNDINTHECITY Thanks, man. I appreciate the quick reply! Should've never used it for DJ gigs. Had to crank it way too high that's probably what did it. 😆 Glad it's only $100 for the part

Do you absolutely need midi cables or can you do this by connecting the usb cable from synth to the computer?
@SOUNDINTHECITY9 ай бұрын
The usb cable should be fine on it’s own to control a virtual instrument. The only reason you would want midi cables and audio cables connected from the synth to your audio interface: Write midi in your daw, and have the synth play that part back. Or you have midi and want to audition different sounds back on the synth

My sub works on the mids and high ends but the low ends sound fucked like something is rattling inside the speaker. Would replacing this fix the problem?
@SOUNDINTHECITY9 ай бұрын
I’m unsure. You shouldn’t have a rattle. Make sure nothing is loose on the inside and the grill is secured. Also check the surrounding area, to ensure it isn’t a resonant frequency affecting some piece of furniture

Does buffer setting in PT have any effect on virtual instrument play back latency or midi latency where the midi notes don’t record perfect in time? I’m speaking all about ITB.
@Xpert_Spellbynder Жыл бұрын
Virtual instrument playback latency and artifacts happen for sure if you have a low buffer setting and not the processing power to back it up. So I think midi would be the same thing. A good work around is to bounce/freeze/commit tracks that have lots of plugins so you can record a part, then revert it back if those tracks still need to be worked on.

Currently have an HS8S that seems to be going out. monitor's volume on left side is real faint. Monitors are fine bypassing sub. What could be going out in the sub that I can fix/replace?
@SOUNDINTHECITY2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never run into that issue. Maybe if your audio interface has 4 outputs you could send output 1/2 to the Left & Right main monitor speakers, and output 3/4 to the Left & Right inputs of the subwoofer; bypassing the control on the subwoofer to the main monitors. This is the way I have mine setup, as I don’t use the controls from the sub-to-monitors because sometimes I want to listen only to the bass or only to the main monitors.
