I was born in ohio. My parents bought an old legitimate haunted house. Previous owners left in one car in the middle of the night and a lengthy history of suicides at the house including kids and adults. We had a ton of paranormal things happen. Sightings of ghosts, mischevious pranks in the middle of the night, sounds and visions. In the basement there was a hidden tunnel. It had stone walls and went on further than we would dare explore. The house was right on the ohio river and directly across the river from the Leatherlips statue. My parents remodeled the house and we found lots of treasures kept in the walls and floor including old newspapers and tools a little bit of money too. We moved to florida and someone pulled an abandoned house scheme and was able to convince the county to auction off the house. One summer my best friend up therw called me and said hey dude your house is gone. It was the summer before i was gonna move back up and live in that house. No one ever called or contacted my dad at all. We shouldve never lost that house but i chalk it up to the haunted nature of that house.

Cool. Chuck's brother had one of those 53 Corvettes in a barn on Roberts Rd. In Hilliard. I wonder what ever happened to it. That guy you met seems really nice.

Great story! This should have its own series on TV. There was a old school junkyard next to where I work. It was exactly like this one! Muddy pathways, tall weeds around the cars, greasy dirty guy that knew were EVERYTHING was. Just think how simple and seemingly happy that Shakey guy is. Has a nasty dirty job out in the elements all day, doing it all his life and seems like the happiest guy in town. Probably never gets mad at anybody. Just flat out guts the job done

The Stone Academy in Zanesville, Ohio was part of the underground railroad. They give tours and you can see where runaway slaves were hidden while they were being taken to other safe places along the route. They also have quite a lot of historical artifacts related to the town and its history. I'd recommend going there.

I remember in either 1984 or 1985, i had the cottage just west of the park. It was one of the first real nice days in the spring & i was sitting in the cottage & my 2 boys were outside on the porch overlooking the river. I kept hearing my youngest yelling something but i was not sure what he was saying. I finally got up & walked out to see what he was yelling for, & come to find out an older man & 3 of his grandkids come over wire rapids in a small aluminum boat & a canoe. They lost it when they come over the rapids, & they were still a little west of us. My neighbor to the east of me yelled & said come on. He had one of his small boats ready to go into the water but no motor. We shoved it in& grabbed a set of oars. The water was very swift, & the older guy was in the water hanging on to the side of his boat, a guy west of us went out & grabbed one boy & took him straight over to the island in the middle of the river. We were oaring straight accross the river but really at first i never thought we would ever meet up with him & the other grandson. That water was really swift >>>>> & COLD !! Well by luck when we hit the middle of the river they floated right into us. We got the kis into the boat & we were going to try & get the older guy in too But he said don`t even try, he said from the waist down i am so numb i could not even help you for me to get into the boat. Someone had called the EMS from the west ( town ? ) & we could hear them coming ! We were doing everything we could to get back to the bank, & we could see persons running down the bank to try & stay up with us. We got to the bank right at Vollomar`s Park. Lucky it was the low flat part of the bank & much easier for the guys to help grab him & get him up on shore. The sun was out & really felt really good. They laid him out flat so the sun could warm him up. I know they checked them out, not sure anymore but i think they took them in the ambulance. In the couple years i was there before i sold it, it seems at least once a year someone had to try the canoe thing on a nice day & lose it at the rapids. Lucky the older guy made sure his grandkids had vests 🙂

I was born on a Carnival ! and I spent my childhood riding on the Merry-Go -Round .when I was a toddler my mother sold tickets for the Merry -Go- Round and had me in the ticket box with her ,when I got cranky she would open the door and call the ride boy over to put me on a horse and that was my babysitter ☺ I still love the beautiful hand carved horses and I'm glad they're are people like you still carving them .
