I shoot with an X-T5 mostly on Aperture priority or manual, but zone focused. My X-S20 Also usually aperture priority but I've started experimenting with auto mode and can see it being handy. I'll likely stick with aperture priority since I like to control for depth of focus so I'm getting bokeh when I want it, and not when I don't. That being said I think as long as the auto mode give you what you want there's no shame in using it. Composition is the most important thing to worry about so if using auto mode lets you focus more on making sure your composition is right and it doesn't get in your way why not use it?

Hey!! Can you help me here! Iv been deciding between the XS20 and the XT5 for my birthday - not sure which one should i go for... Looking for a camera to basically take everywhere!
@Littlecritter5
@Littlecritter5 17 күн бұрын
I’d say it really depends on your use. The XT5 is more photo oriented whereas the XS20 is a hybrid between photo and video. The XT5 has the new 40MP sensor so that will be a bit sharper on the images. If you want something for traveling, I love the size of the XS models. They just fit so well in the hand and are so powerful for how compact they are. Do with this info as you will haha.

Do you have clipping/spiking audio? My XS20 audio spikes from time to time. In my opinion there is no reason for - I record audio in a silent room and BOOM: A cracking noise.

I didn't really watched the video but i own the camera and it doesnt overheat (not even a warning) even when im shooting on 40°C+ celcius in Greece. So if you are gonna shoot 120fps for 5 minutes under direct sunlight then ok it may overheat. But under normal working conditions and holidays the camera will be fine.

@paulm8157 Ай бұрын
Reasonable points, Markus. IMO, we stress too much about style. Style organically develops and changes over time based on inspirations, preferences, and experience. Just let it happen. Kind of like flatulence😊. Kidding aside, think of style as an analog to personality; has to be natural. People can tell when it’s not. When objective viewers of a group of photos can identify the look, subject, and feel of the images and say “I like your style” rather than “I like that photo” then you have it. Think about famous painters. Cheers!

I think it's important to not chase a specific style, or keep yourself limited to a certain subjects. Go out, shoot stuff, buildings, nature, people. Then evaluate. Did you like the experience? Which photos appeal to you the most? Let your style find you, then I think you will enjoy photography more.

dude, own a fuji camera whilst you still own an R5 but do not completely sell your canon gear and buy everything fuji. I have done this and had to go back to canon. Fuji is nice for video but AF is crap and photos are not sharp like they are on the R5.
@Princeton_James
@Princeton_James Ай бұрын
My same exact experience - not as sharp and AF is trash. Only the most expensive lenses actually are sharp- 16-55, 90mm etc. Their zoom lenses are soft. I've tested the exact same lens on Sony vs the Fuji and the Sony was sharper.

Nice one, Markus. Have used Peak Design straps - practical. However, I now use DIY gear - small D rings stay on camera and strap ends have D-rings. The D-rings are attached by small metal carabiner clips (from hardware store). The connections don’t twist around like the Peak Design.

@@DimaStrangerSometimes I think that maybe if I did upgrade from the A6600 to A6700 I wouldn’t have noticed Fuji at all. But even if you did you will keep thinking about Sony Full frame options and then you will be shocked by the size and weight of the lenses specially the zooms and the low aperture ones. I still recommend Sony for professionals who are going to take mostly videos as this where Sony autofocus shines. Other than that it’s Fuji all the way. Once you experience Fuji colors you realize how bad Sony pictures were. Fuji pros colors, film sims, Xt4 beautifully videos, size, tactile user experience overall, kinda affordable great quality lenses (now I look back at the sharp Sigma/Tamron/Samyang and they are no way near fuji lenses and good luck with the G master prices), weight of the camera and the lenses.

A while ago I saw a professional videographer taking videos for trainers at the Gym. I took a couple of photos of him in action. When I sent them to him SOOC, the first thing he said “Such a nice colors, have you edited them”. This is a typical Sony user in a nut shell. However he will beat me in the video Autofocus/Tracking. At the start he didn’t trust the size of the tiny 50mm F2 😅

I have the X-S20. I think it's a matter of expectations. It also depends on the lens you use. Here's a short test clip I made using footage taken with the S20 and two vintage film camera lenses, a Canon FD 24mm f2.8 and a Canon FL 58mm f1.2. Of course, the only image stabilization is from the S20 IBIS. I hope this helps. Walking is OK, but you really need a gimbal for best results. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ebGXZchlzb3bmGg.html

I can connect with this. I was a Canon guy. I needed to upgrade so got a 90D that had to go back. It was an early model and the focus was all over the place. I tried Fuji and enjoyed the experience but wanted a lot more sensor resolution. So Sony R series. Brilliant, yet lacking in soul and just too heavy for an old fart to carry all day in mountains, moors, dales etc. Back with Fuji. Sticking with them. Not going anywhere else. Making my happy face.

If you want to capture the same feeling without compromising on the handling, you can also rely on the good ol' new school combo: zone focus + auto iso + gated shutter speed. Everything from 8ft to perceivable infinity in acceptable focus, shutter speed locked to prevent any shake or motion, and ISO takes the hit to make sure exposure is nailed. It's even more freeing because you don't even have to focus 🤘 But yeah, I'm all for turning off the noise now and then, and just shooting. You get into the flow state but the consideration is literally only composition. With full brain power focused down on the one task, growth happens by leaps and bounds.

Insightful video. Not many YT channels will advocate for (fully?) auto mode - taking control of the camera can enable your creativity, IMO. As an amateur, I enjoy a variety of subjects, but my ability to choose gear and settings does not lessen the enjoyment. When the camera is “part of you” then the fun can begin. Still, point and shoot has its place - a reason, I believe, why smartphone photography is so popular. I’ve used XT-4 and XS-10, but was disappointed in the (basic) autofocus hit rate. What was your experience with the XS-20?
