My problem is only one external temp probe...I like to have at least 4 sensors if not more for my grill..front, back, side, and near smoke exit. Would also like for top shelf..this us more important because I can always stick a probe into meat..

If you think you will successfully compete in this field without ambient temp info , you are delusional. Although ambient accuracy on Meater , for example , is only iffy in the first few minutes of t 25:35 he cook , after that it's largely reliable, and based on videos testing the other leading brands , I believe the same is true of them . Requiring a separate component for ambient measurement is a non starter as far as I'm concerned.

Finally. I’m glad to see they are not including an ambient sensor. The ambient temperature on the MEATER is so god awful. They could get rid of that and drop the price $30, and it would be much better value for the money. I like the four different internal readings
@mikeg60698 күн бұрын
Much appreciated comparison as I'm in the market for a drum smoker. However, the one that has my attention is the Cotton Gin Harvester. It has a barrel access door. That feature seems like it would be of great value. Are you aware of Cotton Gin smokers and if so, what is your opinion on the value of the access door?

You will not regret the Cotton Gin as long as you can wait 10 months to get one.

Does their app have predictive technology like the Combustion probe does? I have the Combustion and like that feature a lot...but the reliability of the Combustion is pretty bad...constantly disconnecting even with phone literally right next to it. And as mentioned...the ambient reading is just useless so a wasted feature. I had the Meater and it was just garbage...very inaccurate.

The Masterbuilt 1050 is a piece of junk. I purchased the unit from Amazon in December of 2022. I mostly use it for smoking and use my propane bbq for everything else, it doesn't get a lot of use. I also purchased the cover to protect it from the elements. In the first year I may have used it 10 times. After 1 year and 1 month the fan doesn't come on. I sent an email to customer support hoping I can get help diagnosing the problem all I get in response is that my unit is out of warranty and a link to there parts and that the inquiry is closed. After doing some research myself I find out the temp probe that controls the unit packed it in so I ordered 1 from Amazon. 5 months and 2 uses later the dial on the main control doesn't work the unit only works at 225 ! Back to masterbuilts nonexistent customer sevice & parts site. They have a replacement part $59.99 + shipping only one problem, I live in Canada and the part is not available in my region? I tried Amazon all they sell are Chinese knockoffs that apparently don't work . I tried contacting them by email and basically after the warranty has expired your on your own. They have only 1 phone # for if your experiencing any difficulties on there web site and its full go figure. Don't waste your money ! I now have a smoker

@@joeljay8471 This applies to final cook temp because water boils at lower temps at higher altitudes so the meat will finish at a lower internal temp no matter if you cook it at 225 or 300.
