Thanks for the ideas. Since I have a corgi I put a tetherball in my backyard. It's very stimulating and challenging. I only have too ask if she wants to pay and she's immediately at the door. You can get a full set-up via Amazing, with pole, rope, ball & ball pump. You can easially switch out for a different ball. She's gone thru 4 balls. 🎾 give it a try.

I have owned two ACD. The first one was the best dog I've ever owned. Smart, loyal, quiet, friendly--the best dog ever. Perfect pet--except for the shedding. The second has been the worst dog I've ever owned. The opposite of the first one except for the shedding.

If people eat can tuna and sardines, don't toss the water or oil from the can. If there's a better loved treat for my ACD, I haven't found it. I just pour it over kibble.

Hi, I am a retired Certified Master Groomer. Through my years in the business I completed, on average 21,000 grooms….I saw a lot of dogs. The most common problem with -any- breed is lack of proper socialization and training. I owned several different breeds in my life and I have to say, I absolutely loved and appreciated my Australian Cattle Dog - hands down. The most loyal dog that I ever owned. I did put a lot of time into training and socialization, which included obedience school. I was firm about what I expected. They are ultra smart & thrive on learning something new. They -are- fiercely protective, and they will not put up with any foolishness. Probably not for the beginner dog owner, or families with small children.

My older one knows when we get near the one Home Depot where he is absolutely spoiled by one cashier there...only 4 times has Jimi gotten angry with people. The 1st time? A guy was approaching my youngest kid (a girl that the Eastern European women called 'the model' from a baby) and Jimi was not going to let him get near her. I trust his senses with people. Same kid? Now has a Maine Coon kitten and Jimi & the kitten play/wrestle- they even eat together

I'd like to add some pre-training. I use a leather choke and 15 foot leash. After your puppy can keep up with you while walking, go to a field. In the middle of the field, wait for the puppy to distract. Turn and walk briskly in the opposite direction. Every time it isn't corrected, crouch down and praise them when it comes to you.

I trained my red hard(off leash). That dog did not fail to come when called(except mid rabbit chase) his whole life. My only regret is not neutering. His sex drive was so hard, he refused to play outdoors. I had to play with him in the house because, ooh that smell.

Your cattle dog is red but they are also known as Blue Heelers. I had one years ago and now that I've hit Geezerdom I want another. I had a Blue one but would settle for a Red one.

My girl does exactly the same thing but in addition she has a mental map of every mud puddle in the area.
