Need a little help here...I have tried both the guide spring and installed the rubber bumper...after 30 rounds I tried to remove the dust cover to see the internals, but no matter how much I press the rear button to try to removed the dust cover plate it would not move AT ALL! I had to do a tap with a hammer to loosen it up to push the guide spring assembly forward...Is this normal for this kind of setup...

My p30l sights were an absolute pain in the ass to remove and install. I've done several pistols with both sight pusher tools and punches, and for some reason this rear sight was the toughest.

I recently purchased an AMT hardballer, I was surprised at all the negative reviews. Having been a police supply dealer in the 80's and 90's I was more than familiar with the brand and the handguns of the time. I kept reading references to how the firearm was designed to only fire hardball/FMJ. Sorry, so was every 1911 from Colt, etc. The hollow point ammunition was causing malfunctions in all 1911's, I know I sold many. The cure was what was called a fluff and buff. You polished the feed ramps and throat of the barrel. I would feed empty cases through the guns to check the functionality. This was also necessary in many," Wondernines," of the period. Which also had trouble feeding certain hollow point loads. I purchase the AMT for $350, Took it home, did the fluff and buff, installed a 16# chrome silicon recoil spring, completely cleaned the handgun and hit the range. Fed 3 different Defensive loads/hollow points, through the AMT, including 185, 200 and 230 grain, with no issues. Accuracy was excellent. I point shoot at close range, inside 7 yards and was shooting 4 or 5 rounds, loading 5 at a time in mags, in a 2"- 3"group without sights, showing the ergonomics and point ability of the 1911 are spot on. I noted the machine marks in the feed ramp and barrel throat before polishing them to a mirror shine but saw no issues with the slide or frame rails. The pistol had been fired enough that the rails were very smooth and no machining showing. The slide and frame fit had no rattles and the trigger pull was short and light, with no creep or grit, didn't gauge it but my finger gauge said approx. 5 pounds with a barely perceptible take up. The hammer seemed quite heavy to pull back, the 1911 shoots so well I don't know if I want to mess with the spring, I may though as arthritis in my right thumb is a factor. So far, the pistol seems to be a great buy and fully capable. The rubber wrap around grips are good and the fixed sights are dead on. I would love to put night sights on the gun, but the front sight is swaged in so I would have to drill it out and see if anyone sells an old school post night sight I could install. Otherwise, it's probably cheaper to buy a dovetailed slide from Brownells, etc. than to have this machined, I'll have to check. All in All, love the gun, first stainless 1911 made, a small part of 1911 history.

I like mine but I definitely had to do a lot of handfitting to get it right. Main issues were that the BCG rubbed on the inside, the safety lever couldn't go all the way up, and the tightening mechanism wasn't able to fully cinch the dust cover against the rear trunnion. But hey, we AK guys don't mind a bit of hand-fitting, right?

AK trigger works on self polish... If you remove too much material, the trigger ll not reset, a face some problems with the firing pin, and maybe safety too.

I build my own AKs and I had this crazy idea for a build so I mirror polished the rails before spot welding them in for a smooth glide. Will be modifying and polishing the hammer to take it over the top, thanks for video! My favorite go to is 'The One' with the polished rails/feed ramp ... Damn, can't wait for my next day off to work on hammer.

Thank you for the CZ999 review! Interesting comment at 7:46 - can you elaborate on how you worked with the cloth on the inside? I’ve never used a polishing cloth on my weapons and I’m a bit afraid to mess things up. Did order a cape cod polishing cloth just now though :)

Tapco triggers, ALG triggers etc, are not worth it and really unnecessary. I’ve been into AKs for about 14 years now and have a decent ak collection, and the stock triggers just have never bothered me: at least to the point where I absolutely felt I “had”to change it out unless it actually has to be replaced due to issues. I find a lot of people on the internet feel and sound like changing out their stock trigger is a “must” upgrade. Almost to the point where if they don’t change out the trigger asap, their world is going to end. On top of that, tapco and alg triggers have always tended to have bad effects on the bolt carrier. Which is why you end up having to do all this unnecessary modifying to prevent damage and unnecessary wear. Idk, I just never could see the whole obsession with changing out the stock triggers, only that people just want to shoot faster

Also metal is good and all but I prefer the Delrin charging blocks made by HBI aluminum rubbing on aluminum isn’t ideal. It’s not like steel rubbing on steel.. I’ve found aluminum even same alloy aluminum rubbing can wear pretty bad

Got this for my ddm4 V7 because waiting on a can, now decided to put in my mk18 with can so I wanted an h3 buffer instead of h2. I couldn’t see where geissele sells just the buffer. Later found that they will ship tungsten weight,so you’ll just have to take apart the buffer and switch steel with tungsten if you don’t wanna buy an extra spring.

The nice thing about 1911s, is that they're dead accurate compared to polymer frane pistols. That said, I'd prefer to carry a reliable, polymer framed, double stack 9mm, as opposed to a pistol that might jam on me.

If this gun had been released today it would still be considered revolutionary. It would also probably get a lot more traction in the market with social media and most people knowing how important an excellent trigger is for accuracy. I was able to get grab a new to me Gen 1 in excellent shape very recently.
