Would be nice to see how the bed was built. Can't you explain, or, if you still got the van, make a short video Thanks a lot 🙏
@Pistonpedal2 ай бұрын
It's basically several 500lbs heavy duty slides with a linear actuator that slide the whole bed. The back rest is just on a hinge.

Why is nobody talking about how it would take literally 3 seconds to pull out the bed manually? 🤔
@Pistonpedal6 ай бұрын
Oh it’s been mentioned a few times. I didn’t want an automatic bed either but it was very difficult to pull it out with all the doors closed because you would have weight on it while trying to slide it.

I would really like to build this project, but have no sense of design or engineering (very left brained!) but have time & money. Do you have any plans for this project that you would be willing to sell? I'm looking to build this kit and put it in a trailer to take to high schools to demonstrate the multiple topics used in this build (pneumatics, electrical, mechanical, sensors, programming, etc.). Instead of the Arduino, I have some Allen-Bradley PLC's that my students would help program. Oh, BTW, I teach Industrial Maintenance at a Community College.

Is your passenger seat on a swivel? If so, what hardware did you use for that?
@Pistonpedal9 ай бұрын
It isn't, the seats are too low to make them swivel so folding the passenger seat down and sitting on the back of it worked great.

Man. Thank you for sharing this overview. I really enjoyed learning about your project. It has the best layout for a micro camper. I am considering a travel position and I am curious about how much you sold it for. I understand we are now in 2023, so prices will vary, but any insight into this level of van dwelling will be helpful. Also, I am 6'0"... would this setup be doable for my height? I look forward to hearing from ya!
@Pistonpedal9 ай бұрын
Thanks Buddy! It was a rad little van, sold for around 60K. A height of 6' is pretty tall but it would work. You'd be a bit hunched while sitting. Of course you could lower the bench height too to give more head room but you'd lose some storage.
@CoffeeWithBrent9 ай бұрын
Sounds like you did well on this build. Thank you for your transparency and suggestion. Big help!
