2001 Suburban. 300K. Doesn't use more than a quart of oil between changes. I run 5K on oil changes, full synthetic. Doesn't use coolant. The factory installed aux. cassette player and rear washer doesn't work. Every light, button, switch and even the rear climate system are perfect. Transfer case is perfect too. At 180K pucked tranny. Got a AAMCO rebuild with a lifetime warrantee. (they don't offer that anymore) At 250 tranny puked again. New tranny didn't cost me a penny, not even installation. Walk into my Chevy dealer because its starting to rust, $91,000. Yup, I'm painting it.

I bought a 2004 Tacoma 3.4 back in 2007 with 34,000 on it. I've got 110,000 on it, and since I'm daily driving my wife's old vehicle to work now, it's almost frozen in time. My desire is to give it to my grandson one day and leave him something solid to remember me by.

We like old cars because we like larger naturally aspirated engines instead of brand new cars with tiny 1.2 liter three cylinder engines with turbo charging. These new cars are disposable cars and, when their warranty runs out, they’re ready for the scrap yard.

Data is interesting but he doesn't tell us where it comes from and what bias there may be in the data. He admits the Titan sample is small. But lets say Titan buyers love their trucks and don't sell them and the data is triggered by a sell. It seems to be sales related as he is talking about a sales price under $10,000. There are more Titan commenters on this video with over 300k than the data picked up...? I'd propose they are happy with the truck and it is not getting sold. Maybe Tundra owners are different? Maybe it is sample size.

26 YO S10, $1200 eight years ago, 270,000 miles, still rust free in salty climate, was from NC, a slight oil drip on cardboard in garage, rather loose steering sector, is all that’s wrong. AC is colder than my 8 YO low miles super clean garage queen AWD 4 popper that sets in garage. I simply prefer a bomber that is care free on paint, dings, scratches, etc. The S10 with excellent and still strong 4.3L, is like my dad’s old basic 66 Ford farm truck decades ago, just maintain mechanics well enough, use it when needed, clean it very seldom, park in any tight space and dare someone to fling their door on it, I don’t care one bit. I call it “Freedom Rider”. Free from care nor worry. Also save on license tabs bottomed out and no collision on insurance. I have several offers in wait of twice what I paid for it 8 years ago, the only vehicle I’ve ever owned that has appreciated. I’m slayed. And the worst one I’ve owned was a BRAND NEW 1988 4x4 F150 Lariat (just $13,000 new believe it or not), in 12 months, 15,000 miles: 3 leaks, 2 brake jobs, 3 alignments with shims to go straight, 302 V8 started at 1000 miles/qt of oil, dropped to 350 miles, a new engine under warranty, it did 1200 miles/qt (my bomber S10 does better with an oil drip) and that replacement engine bucked and missed, ran on 5 cyl. if manual transmission was shifted up too soon and motor lugged a little until 2000 rpm on tach, then all 8 kicked in. The gas tank sender crapped, dash light dimmer only worked in one narrow spot, and more ! I walked 5 miles to work several times, rented a wreck $14/day other times. What a nightmare that was and how good my 270,000 mile S10 has been for 8 years, is hard to wrap brain around, is totally backwards of expectations. That lemon F150 became a new 89 little Blazer with that wonderful 4.3L, I drove it 80,000 miles, no oil consumption, nothing was done but replace a bad ABS electronics box and adjust a door seal against very windy days. My Freedom Rider I much prefer now, no worries, just reliably get me A to B. Need I ask for more?? Neighbor’s $70,000 trucks depreciate more each year than my total $ into 8 years with S10 and neighbors expend time and money washing and polishing theirs often, no doubt very honked if they see a parking lot door ding. I drive off for some hiking biking outdoor fun instead of something more like work. Heh. Satisfsction.

I like the challenge of finding really mint older Toyota and Lexuses for my family. Both of my kids drive 100 series Landcruisers. One of them I found 6 years ago 1700 miles from where I live, one owner, Texas, no accidents…paid 6800. My daughter drove it through high school and now she’s a senior in college. When she decides to sell it, she will probably close to double what we paid for it. Thank you for sharing your experience my friend.p and asking us to do the same.

Because it was a love affair in my case from the first time I saw it. A true rolling art form. An awesome fuel burning oracle if you will. Unlike you, I like a spotless pristine vehicle in body, interior, and all mechanical systems that will take me beyond my expectations of driving late into my retirement. I could care less what people think. The only challenge is parts for the future. However, there are alternatives. I think any vehicle worth its salt will last 100K plus with proper mechanical and fluid maintenance. I'm on my first 100K. Like your channel. I drive a 2012 Lincoln MKX AWD. 2nd owner off a lease. Can't beat that for buying a mechanically certified vehicle. Negotiated with Lincoln. Got a 7yr. extended 100k mile warranty. Hey, now I found @ 104k a credible full bumper to bumper warranty company for 7 more yrs or 80k miles with zero deductible. I love warranties. This coverage has already paid for itself. We will see in 7 more years. My MKX is also my means of exercise. Washing, waxing and cleaning. Being retired I need the exercise says my doctor. Some go to a gym. Me It's this. What breed is your dog? Ours looks alot like yours. Same colour and tan markings. Ours is a six yr. old Cavashon. Royal King Charles cavalier English spaniel mix with a Bichon Friese. Subscribed .

My older vehicles--87 VW Vanagon, three W123 Mercedes diesel sedans ( '79 300D, '81 240D, '84 300D Turbo) are easy to work, parts still available and affordable. No complicated electronics or emissions systems. The VW is running strong and reliably at 187,000 miles. The Mercedes diesels have over 200,000 each and are reliable. Doors close like bank vaults. I join you in love and respect for older cars.

…if it gives you that sense of joy, it has to be a good thing. Just like that 4Runner of yours. I am in the Silicon Valley where the obsession of having to own the latest is a must. Not this 55 year old bitch, I still drive around in my very first car that I inherited from my Grandfather in 1985. It’s a big ass white 1972 MBZ 280SEL 4.5 with 319K miles and sucks gas at 13 city and 16-18 highway. All my vehicles are in a range of old like the 1958 Facel Vega FV4Typhoon from my late Father to a 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback I bought from my next door neighbor in 2011. There are a few more vehicles in the mix and their upkeep has been meticulously handled by my Man who thank God is a mechanic. To maintain and insure them all is maddening but so worth it.

My 2007 Honda Civic LX 1.8L has 303,000 miles on it. Bought it new in 2007. My daily commuter car. Just took it on a 3400 mile road trip. Have kept up on fluid changes (oil (Mobil1), tranny fluid drain & fills, coolant drain & fills, brake & power steering vacuum & refills with Honda fluids). Maintenance on these cars is well designed and EASY! Runs like new. I always know I can count on it (unlike my other vehicles). In the life of the car I have only replaced the starter, struts, brake pads, sparkplugs (at 265,000 miles only because it seemed like I should given the mileage even though the originals seemed fine), and a motor mount (quick and easy). Planning a 3,000 mile road trip out east in 2 months and have no doubt it will be fine. I plan to get a million miles on this car if I live long enough. Good car.
