@@MusicTruckMasters2004. yes it’s still there but the ties are really rotten and it can’t be walked over safely. But it’s not too hard to get to either end. South end from the Carolin mines road and north end from hwy 5 just north of the highway bridge.

Impressive rare footage, especially of NP’s challengers and GN’s W-1’s.

SP&S and NP had some spectacular steam locomotives that deserved being preserved, especially those massive challengers

Imagine going back and filming this with a modern camera. This footage looks so clean!

I grew up in Spokane. My dad used to take my older brother over to Trent and Fancher to watch them turn steam locomotives on the table at the engine house in that yard. Your father filmed some great railroad history. Thank you for posting these and your sister for having them digitized.

Small chance but I might actually own the horn on that engine. It came from California and was in the WP shops and this was a WP subsidiary.

Great Northern received their Comes in 1955. The Northern Pacific did the year before in 1954. It is commonly referred to the 1954 Vista Dome Train. Great Video!

Little Joes in their original paint scheme and even some bipolars. Doesn’t get much better than that! Nice!

I rode the Hiawatha twice. Both times with S-3 steamers to Missoula and Electrics to Avery. Then steamers to Othello and the P 2 electrics to Seattle. Great ride, top quality food, terrific crew!

The timeframe here looks like these shots were taken in between 1947-ish to 1954. At the beginning of the video, that's the "pine tree" passenger paint scheme. They also had a "pine tree" scheme in for freight cars and locomotives. In 1954 Northern Pacific introduced four vista domes per North Coast Limited, (none of which are shown in here). The vista domes never had the pine tree paint scheme on them. Throughout the video, you see mixed passenger cars, this was as the N.P. was transitioning from the older heavyweight style Pullman cars, to the newer style Pullman (and Budd) passenger cars. In between 1947-1951 the North Coast Limited wasn't the most attractive to look at, just with the upgrades. But, it still remained world class. Thank you for the video here, these are gems of the past. I really enjoyed watching this. The more of this that can be preserved, the better.
