I have the JD 44" blower mounted on my LA115, it's worked *GREAT* for more than ten years in the southern Ontario (Canada) winters! Broke *ONE* belt so far, and have spares, just in case. My driveway isn't super long, but we do get an occasional *BIG* dump of snow, and when that happens, the neighbors are *super* happy that I and Martha (My Deere) are here to dig them out! Best wishes, everyone!

Great video and you've shown exceptional patience answering questions and tolerating the knucklehead at the bottom of the comments section. Good advice on plow vs. blower. Plows don't work well unless there is a lot of weight to provide traction. Better to blow it once and never touch it again.

Thank you for the kind words. Responding to some does take a great deal of patience! I enjoy anytime I get to spend in the seat. The blower is a beast and I have a ball using it. However, I have it off the tractor now with my fingers crossed I won't need it until next winter. I'll see about maybe getting some grass cutting videos to see if I can find those critics! ;) Thanks again for watching. Cheers!!

I wouldn't call that deep snow at all. I'd love to see one of these videos with snow that is really deep (like a foot or more) and the end of the driveway with at least double that from the road being plowed. That's a little snow where I live and doing it before the snow plow has been around is totally unrealistic.

Great video and replies. I have an X380 and was debating between a blade or blower. I live in Duluth MN so we get 1" - 24"... what's the most it could through for both plow and blower?
@Don55443
@Don55443 Жыл бұрын
Hello! The X380 is a great machine with plenty of power. Though It does have some limitations when it comes to snow. I'm about 30 minutes south of Buffalo, NY and we get hammered with several feet of snow. Getting a snowblower was the only way to go for me. After considerable time spent in the seat moving snow around, I don't believe the tractor has what it takes to push though any deep snow with the blade. The engine has the power but traction is its largest opponent. A couple things to consider: Is the snow light and fluffy or heavy and wet? Is your driveway flat or on a hill? My driveway, in the video, is on an ever so slight up hill climb to the road, so minor it can't be seen in the video. Even with that slight incline the tractor has a hard time getting traction to push through, that's why I have to make a cut to the road and work back to the house so I'm working on the downgrade. Another thing to consider with a blade is each time you want to push the snow in a different direction, left, right, center, you'll have to get off the tractor, pull a pin and manually adjust the blade. Everything is done from the seat with the snowblower I vote you go with the blower. Regardless the direction you decide to go, be sure to get chains and weights, dress warm and have fun!! I hope this helps. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

@@Don55443 thanks Don!! I should have said, we get 1" - 24" in one snowfall, but annually we get at least 81". I think a snowblower is warranted at this point.

X580 here in southern Erie county NY. Love the power (hydraulic) steering and lift. 3rd season. Had x530 before, for 10 years. recommend the ‘weather enclosure’ (cab). I will never understand why so many insists on blowing across area already cleared??? Makes no sense. Too much backing and followup time.??? Blowing into the road?? Poor planning!
@Don55443
@Don55443 Жыл бұрын
I'm also in southern Erie county, (Eden). If you're referring to me blowing snow across one pass is because the driveway is on a slight uphill to the road. The tractor has a hard time cutting though the end of the driveway left from the county plows. I cut one path to the road so I can work downhill. Because of the house and landscaping, I can't blow snow to the left of the video - causing me to have to blow it over the path I just cut, into a large open yard. Hopefully this helps and makes sense. Thanks for your comment! Go Bills!

I also have a 370 with the 44" blower, 2 weights and a gravel driveway goes uphill 25 feet out of the garage. Last winter I had traction problems and was going to add 2 more weights but found a video on KZfaq about Rim Guard which is beet juice and it goes in the rear tires. It weighs 12 lbs per gallon and the 370 rear tires take 6 gallons each or 72 lbs per tire. The cost was $3.50 per gallon but it was only $1 more per gallon to have it done by the dealer so it came to $54 + tax. I jacke up the back end and took the tires off and brought them in since I don't have a trailer. It was easy getting them off and in the truck at 35 lbs each but had to roll them off with a ramp and up to the tractor. Then adjusted the tractor height to line up the axel and wheel - no lifting of anything needed. So far it's working well and I've had no slippage but we haven't had freezing rain then snow like last year or a major snowfall yet. I also replaced the skids with Armor Skids which you can see at snowblowerskids.com or Home Depot.

I have an x370 with the 44 in snow blower and even with 4 weights and chains it won't go very well on a gravel surface. I'm going to replace the chains with vbar chains and see if it is any better. If not, I'll sell or trade it in on something else.

I have a JD x580. Watched a few videos the last few days. In this video..started on right then blew snow from the left over the previously blown path. Why not start on the left??? And blow from both directions to reduce backing.
@Don55443
@Don55443 Жыл бұрын
There are a few reasons why. The driveway is at a slight incline going to the road. That believe it or not, makes it hard for the tractor to get traction. For this reason I have to make my first path to the road so I can work back to the house, using the down hill in my favor. Reason I blow the snow in the direction I blow is so that I'm not blowing it into the house. Blowing snow over the one pass I made to the road can't be avoided. In addition, the reason I start on the right side rather than the left is because of where the tractor has to come out of the garage. I know this might seem to not make scene but it's the only way it can be done. Thanks for watching.
