I wish I could have obliged you. Battery died on the approach of the big uphill on the last lap. Todd was pushing me so hard that we ended catching you at the downhill into the checkered flag. He got me at the last road crossing. I just couldn’t hold off his 450 without wrecking us both.

Tests one and two weren't too bad. Test three got a little slimy toward the end. As bad as it got on Saturday, Sunday was completely the opposite. The dirt was perfect. Unfortunately, I changed the SD card in my GoPro and it was bad. I didn't get to record any of the "HERO" dirt for the Sunday race.

I was the first rider on test 1, second rider on test 2 of both first runs and I was third out on test 3. My second run of test 1 was a better run even though I had traffic. My second run of test 2 was horrible. I got stuck in a small creek section after I got impatient and chose a bad line. Took me 15 minutes to get out.

What happens if you ride casually in the first 1.5 mile transfer? Will you miss your start time?
@dwaynecopeland95378 ай бұрын
No. This is a “Reliability Format” which means you start on your minute but then go single file for the rest of the tests every 15-20 seconds afterwards. There is no penalty. Go when you want after the initial start. Some clubs will realign after the gas stop.

Looked like you are wearing the new Fox Flexair Mirer pants. How do you like them? I'm guessing you have your bike geared high, like a 14-48 or so...sounds like you keep it on the grumble almost all the time, even in the straights.
@dwaynecopeland9537 Жыл бұрын
I wear FXR gear Helium gear and love it. I could never get the Fox gear to last long for me before I'd hit a tree branch and tear a hole in them. As for the gearing, I run a 14/50 combo on my 300 and yes I lug it a lot. I run a 14/51 on my 350 and lug it the same way...never could break the habit after a season (years ago) of muddy races. I'd run a gear higher to keep from breaking the rear end loose.

A mousse is the only way to go with this kind of racing. It actually gave me a little more confidence to go through stuff I wouldn’t have otherwise tried. Especially since everything in west Texas has thorns or needles. Congratulations to your son running his first race.

@@dwaynecopeland9537 I think Shady is one of those races where to go fast, you have to slow down a hair. Going down really hurts there and getting off the trail can be catastrophic. Going a couple days early always helps getting acclimated to the rocks and altitude too.
