I have stopped using my smart vac as my daily driver, since parts, including the brush, are NLA. It's a shame, Bravo machines and smart vacs were all over the place not that long ago
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan 29 күн бұрын
Yeah it's a shame as I would love to use this as a long term daily but as you said, most of the parts for these are NLA. Considering I got lucky to get the parts I needed to get it running again I definitely don't want to go wearing it out so I will add it back to the main collection and use something else as a DD once the bag in it fills up.

@@yankeesfan6288 Honestly, probably not because I don't exactly want to just run it without using it adding unnecessary wear to both a very rare and special machine it took me years to find, but if it is for sleep noise purposes or something, perhaps I can make a video of it running for 30 secs on a loop once I get some editing software.

My stepmom used to have the older Bissell. She just forgot what model number was it? I think it was a 6583 or a 6579-3 My mom used to have a Bissell like that long time ago a 6579 model
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan Ай бұрын
If it was identical to mine but didn't have the headlight, it was a 6579-3. Mine is the 6579-2 for reference. The 6583s have a 10 amp motor, no headlight, a slightly different fixed hose with no elbow, and was made later on (2009-2011 versus 2006-2008 for the 6579 series).

Nice! Also I would strongly consider getting the World Vac Victory as those are nice. Too bad that one doesn't have a headlight but like the Bissell, it wouldn't be terribly hard to swap one in if you can find the parts (if you care about having one that is).

@@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan i have had too many -2’s and have been wanting a -3 for forever. I have a 6579, The green one, so if i wanted to use one with a headlight i’d use that. As for the Eureka it is a bit pricey, but i may go and grab it

It's sure coming along! I have now since serviced the motor and brushroll bearings, and am currently starting to wax the base and other plastic parts. This thing was so dirty that I had to go back and wash some parts twice, then do some very vigorous work with a Q tip and my finger to remove dirt from some of the crevices lol

There is a trick for removing those scratches but I’m pretty sure you may have done it before. 😊
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan Ай бұрын
When it comes to removing scratches from hoods/bases, I use 70% isopropyl alcohol and an old toothbrush to scrub out the paint transfer and minor scuffs, then I use Meguiars Mirror Glaze Professional "Show Car Glaze" car wax to wax it as well as other plastic parts such as the headlight lens and dirt container system as an example for this one. In fact that's what I was doing now lol I will say that unfortunately on this machine, some of the scratches are actually deep in the plastic itself and cannot be removed without sanding it down which would ruin the finish and look equally as bad IMO anyways.

Bissell needs fan to be blown out. Bearings sound fine.
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan Ай бұрын
True, though considering the fact that this thing appears to have been used in a construction site or something to suck up plaster dust or whatever that fine dust is, the bearings will need some attention as that stuff dries them out. Might sound fine now but I would like to grease them when I have it apart to keep them healthy and to prevent them from failing down the road when I begin using it.

The Eureka sounds very good, not like the screamer that most are. Also, as a plus, the brush has been replaced
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan Ай бұрын
Yeah, I was bracing myself for that one and luckily it sounds healthy. Also good to know that the brushroll likely isn't original, I knew replacements can be had in the blue color but also thought that some of them came with blue bristles OEM. Would have to watch the video the guy I bought my other one from posted on KZfaq of this same model to verify if this one came this way or not.

@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan
@DoraTheExplorerSuperfan Ай бұрын
@@dancline2143 I have to say, I have it apart and besides the expected dirt and dust, the motor looks to have VERY low hours on it based on the internals. I am guessing this machine was purchased new, briefly used extremely hard and then possibly put back in the box to sit in someone's basement for many years. I know for a fact that the motor has never been opened or serviced as not only was the gasket fully intact until I had to cut it where the motor and housing separate to inspect it but the carbon brushes are the original as if they were ever replaced, the original shunts would've been cut and the replacements lock into a small gap next to the original terminals on the field assembly. They have wear but not much and it is very healthy and even. But anyways, the commutator and bearings looks very good with the windings looking almost new to the point where I would think that it had possibly been serviced in the past if it wasn't for those previous things I noted. And the brush terminals show no sign of being soldered on either which debunks the possibilty of the vac shop going against the OEM instructions on brush replacement.
