My split window has had the same lead acid 12 volt battery for 8 years. It easily starts after sitting for 6 months even if I don't charge it.

As a lifelong VW fan, I'm not sure how I feel about this to be honest. Seems wrong to remove the old air cooled engine, I really appreciate the engineering that has gone into your builds, I'm just not sure I am ready. I love the concept of keeping the old classics alive and applaud you for doing so.

You had one in a video that had an after market front beam on it. Getting a Brazil manufactured, they have kingpin and I would rather have ball joint front end or a beam with A arms. That is a full IRS bus, how are you supporting the drive unit?

The drive unit is connected to a custom subframe, bolted to the vehicle where the engine and gearbox mounted.

In New Zealand no ev battery can be mounted in front of the forward strut towers. For crash reasons. Annoying but I know why. You in the UK dont seem to have that rule. Hope they dont hit anything.

interesting but a bit of a shame as well. That was my family car as a kid - even down to the same colour. And the great thing about these cars was a pretty soulful engine which had good performance for its time. Can't help thinking that if you want an electric car, that it would be better to convert a less rare and more boring car. Still it's the customer who wanted this

Oh, my, God. I had a 16 v when I was young. My father had a 8v gti, now I jave my mk7 gti, my friends hsd a really Gti. If this car was another, it shoud be the same for me, but an electric Gti makes me cry. Surely a good work, but my head can't accept it

Cool work lads! , Why not consider taking Indian Crank Cases and simply mount BLDC motors to the Flywheel side, remove the crank, and put an adapted Lay Shaft in for direct drive or re use the original Gears? That's what I do with my Conversions on all my Vespa and Lambretta. And using a 10a Charger will charge your batts in half the time if not better by the way. Great job on this lads! WOuldn't mind having a chin wag!

Can you answer a question about the motor?, this is a question from someone who has worked with 3phase ac motors for 40 years. They use 3 phase ac motors that have a phase angle of 120 degrees can say that this happens with your conversions as this affects efficency of the motor. Also does it run in star or delta or a combination of the 2. Im guessing they use star which gives you more torque to pull away etc. This would also explian why they are not so good on the motorway as star uses more current. Most industrial motors change from star to delta at 60 percent speed as delta is more efficient at higher speeds.

On a T2 that has beefed up braking system and better suspension, can I still tweak the power the motor will output or is that locked at 110bhp?

We will need to raise the output at our workshop with thorough testing. You won't be able to tweak it yourself, but we can be commissioned to do it.
