The biggest flaw with this unit is that when you are using it, you are not able to use shore power to charge the unit while using it. The only way to charge it is with solar while using it. There is no AC pass through. So if you have a grid power outage, and you run out of stored battery capacity, you can't hook up your generator to charge the F3800 as the 240 output will turn off. The only way is solar. For this reason, I won't buy it until they fix this.

The power is not the same. It is inversely proportional. 480V @200 amps runs through the transformer comes out at lets say 240V @400 amps,(with in reason, there are some losses due to heat and other variables). As the voltage decreases the current increases and vice versa

@@amiatroll6347 that's what I thought, the wires from the secondary winding to the disconnect is not protected, the disconnect is only removing power from the load side but the line side it will be energized at all times unless power is turn off on the primary. Thank you

Since there is a different circuit running through the hot tub disconnect to feed the 120V receptacle, then according to 321.8(A)(4) a warning label should be affixed to the disconnect: "Warning Label: A warning label complying with Section 110.21(B) must be applied to the enclosure to identify the closest disconnecting means for any feed-through conductors." Cheers!

Quick question. I have an old sub-panel 300ft away from the main panel in the main house. The sub panel has a 100 amp service that comprises of two hots and one neutral. It also had the neutral and ground bonded together in the sub panel with a ground wire going to an outdoor water line. I would like to switch that old sub panel out for a new one and separate the grounds and neutrals and add an 8ft grounding rod. But can I do that since I do not have a ground wire coming from the main panel to the sub. Also, the conduit that carries the 100amp service to the sub-panel is plastic not metal. what do I do>

I’ve been licensed for four years now, did mostly new construction high rise resi, commercial and industrial. Just starting my own company and although resi is not that complex, it is a whole new ball game for me. The imposter syndrome/internal inadequacy narrative is real sometimes lol. I greatly appreciate your humble and knowledgeable approach. Takes a real man to post mistakes!

My high school electrical class head was on the NEC committee. He wrote (helped) the code book. “Work shall be done in a neat and workman like manner” practically from day 1 for three years. It drives me crazy when some tradesman leaves a mess behind, especially if it’s an electrician.

@@jeffwinkelman6574 you measured it? you do know the osha spec right, for long term noise exposure right...I've worked in many, many many places over my 46 years of servicing lab equipment, in production facility. Over the years they have improved the requirements to keep high noise levels from damaging hearing, with this constant exposure like this place, and the lack of guards etc. this place looks not very well set up in so many things, just from causal observation here. I've been in some of the most nasty steel mills, to some of the best steel mills, and everything in between in all kinds of industry, pharma, mfg., chemical hazards, electrical hazards, physical personal injury hazards. this place looks bad. The guys cutting stuff, no eye protection, is so obviously not up to spec.

I enjoy watching your content. If I was not close to retirement I would recommend going into some kind of Trade like becoming an Electrician. I really think just my take on it is to first when one graduates is to get some form of Trade then decide if you want to go further than working in a trade. I have great respect for those in the trades. If I had to do it again I would become a licensed Electrician then gone into Telecom. I find both of these interesting, but I am about 4 years then I retire from the IT Industry, so this is just something I would recommend is all as a path for anyone going into and what an option is for kids these days. I just think it gives one more options. I just think having a trad and some kind of higher education is a good option as well. I will be 64 in about 4 years. I find the information very valuable though I do some of my electrical in the way that I do the running of the lines, and will connect things up. I will once it is done have someone who is licensed come and verify things as I do not trust everything I have done.
