I am of mixed heritage: Black American from the South and Bahamian. I studied French in school. I can read and write French but can't really speak it because I never had the chance to practice verbally. I am now starting to learn to read Kreyol of different Caribbean islands. It is odd but I am slowing getting there. For example, I could read that "Sa se nou" means "This is us" but it took me about 2 minutes to figure it out.

Haiti Is the largest speaking Creole country and we love speaking to other people who are not Haitian that Speak Creole. We love this Dont let Creole die in Dominica !

I also stopped talking to a Saint Lucian because he told me he didn't understand or speak creole. Personally I believe he was lying and that's the same as insulting a persons intelligence. That said, creole is also our history because not all the words we use are French or English as you all know. So if you research some of these creole words you will notice they tell you some of the other places and people we from the African continent of European countries that we are tied to.
