"Serenity" The Lake District is more of an enterprise zone than national Park. Landscpe has been denuded by years of overgrazing and no end in sight. 😥

Have you given any thought about the fact that 15 electrical charging networks might affect the parts of nature you can't normally see? I find a partnership of a national park and car manufacturer very strange and not appropriate at all.

Just walked this trail and throughly enjoyed it. It’s well restored and the reconstruction of the bridges that were victims of storm Desmond are excellent. Unlike some I like the tarmac path because it opens it up for all, and being able to walk through Bobbins tunnel once again after all these years was wonderful. HOWEVER! we walked from Threlkeld to Keswick and the reception as we approached Keswick was disappointing. No proper toilets were immediately obvious just a line of scruffy totally un hygienic portaloos at the old Keswick railway station which isn’t ideal when you have walked quite al long way along this trail and encourages people to go to the loo behind bushes etc on the way back. Keswick swimming pool has now been closed down and looks a mess ( Why could they not make it pay in a tourist hotspot like Keswick? ) and Keswick station whilst supposed to be restored ( Platform 1 anyway ) just looked quite scruffy and the pub on the platform looked like it was closed on an Easter Bank Holliday? ( They should take a leaf out of the wonderfully restored Bassenthwaite railway station with its wonderful full size train from the film Murder On The Orient Express ) So yes they’ve done a great job on the actual trail but it’s just a shame the approach to Keswick and the impression it gives to visitors doing the walk from the Threlkeld end is quite poor. Of course what they should do is re open the Penrith to Keswick line as a working railway once again! A railway line that should NEVER have been closed in the first place.

"The Lake District has some of the most fantastic landscapes in the UK, which have been shaped by farming for many centuries." This barely concealed promotion for intensive hill farming fails to inspire confidence. We have to face the fact that intensive farming is causing a local and global ecological disaster. No amount of green washing can hide this fact. Chronic overgrazing has destroyed broadleaf tree cover and stripped the hills bare of plants and shrubs causing soil erosion, floods and massive biodiversity loss. Compounding this hostility to wildlife, farmers all too often support (illegal) hunting. A massive majority of UK citizens want our national parks to be places where wildlife can thrive. Instead the dead, denuded hills of the Lake District are sheep wrecked and barren. Farmers account for 1.5% of the British population but have ownership and control over 71% of the British land-mass. While this democratic imbalance remains uncorrected there is little room for real change in the way our countryside is managed. Our national parks could be a beautiful refuge from intensive farming but sadly they are not.

There is nothing unprecedented about the climate and no verifiable scientific evidence that fossil fuel CO2 is causing the climate to change.

From your own data, 89% of people come to the Lakes via car and that produces a 3rd of the area's CO2 emissions, and your solution to this problem is this? And the plan to have these things blocking roads, causing cars to back up further, generate an increase in congestion is going to aid this how? What is going to work is the natural shift for cars to electric over the next decade, all without this waste of money. A better public transport system is needed, better priority for walking and cycling throughout the Lakes linked to better car parking. You could aid the switch to electric cars by getting more charging stations in the Lakes for a start! The biggest problem as mentioned is congestion, and we need sensible alternatives, not some money sink which makes the LDNPA look "innovative" which will cause more problems for locals and visitors alike. Look at the thing, it's an airport shuttle bus! No tourist would go anywhere in the thing unless drunk as they can hardly see out of it due to all the advertising space...I assume that's to make the LDNPA a bit of cash on the side? Your own information says it does 20mph flat out, and that's going to work wonderfully on the A591 isn't it! Theirs a reason local buses have oversized windows you know! How many councils will it take to give you a vote of no confidence before you get your act together?! The Lake District is NOT a theme park! (or an airport car park in this case).

stayed at the Bobbin Mills for many years while holidaying and used the path all the time, even as long ago as when you had to climb the path at the old tunnel and cross the main road to get back on the path (that was eventually replaced by the wooden walkway system). Fantastic to see the path open again after the destruction of Storm Desmond. A fantastic achievement by all those involved, well done.
