I have the same type of subfloor in my entryway, but it has layers of old paint that can't be sanded off - can the same process of adhering the backer board be done in my situation?
@valentinointeriors30233 күн бұрын
Hi . Ideally you want to scratch the paint off. Use very rough sand paper ( 40 grit ), or an electric planer if possible. A very good wood primer for tiling and then the steps from the video .

From America ... this was a fabulous video. Yes I learned quite a bit, and your embedding into the video situations on tongue and groove, standard butt joint flooring, different level, ... all of it was terrific. Thank you.

To mark out your male cut you could have laid the F cut on top, marked out on the top and transferred to the underside.

@@gavincollins9376 Every time you are transferring a mark it could be less accurate. This way is quicker.

Great video mate, but you don’t explain why you left 14 centimetres? Instead of 10 that the company states. Can you please explain ?
@valentinointeriors302319 күн бұрын
@@adamlucas7059 Thank you . I left 14cm because we did herringbone pattern tiling . I wanted to cut the tiles on the edges after installation. The border was 10cm and I left 14cm just to make sure I will not cut the wires. There is a video on the channel where we installed the tiles . This will explain this in more details.

thanks for the vid, if I only wanted to cover half the floor with the underfloor heating, do I just need to insulate board where the mats are? do I just use self level screed to level up the rest?
@valentinointeriors302320 күн бұрын
@@rss2030 Hi . You can do that. If you do insulation board everywhere is a better result. This way you are not losing any heat and also it will be easier to get a level floor everywhere. It will not work out much cheaper to do levelling compound .

Thank you soooo much for this video! You are awesome! I have been looking for a video on how to tile over my t&g structural flooring. I have Laticrete Next Level Plus self leveler. I'm thinking I'll need to add fiber to it.
@valentinointeriors3023Ай бұрын
Hi , thank you for your message. If the self levelling compound is flexible ( this should be written on the bag ) there is no need to add any additional fibres.

What makes you decide to not use the standard silicone flexible membrane backing for hardwood floors in this application? I can’t think of the exact name of what I’m referring to but it’s usually orange silicone type backing that goes on I see sometimes after the thin set which I presume would be used to partially level it out where it is close to that anyway. I guess I’m asking in part why no membrane here or you just prefer that first material you mentioned (insulating board?)?
@valentinointeriors3023Ай бұрын
Hi . The membrane is called Uncoupling membrane from Schluter . That membrane is not suitable for floorboards. It is only for ply, OSB and chipboard. For floorboards you need to use this one or cement boards, or other tile backer boards , no membranes.
@spammail67344 күн бұрын
Sorry I'm late to this party, but for a bathroom application, would it be fine to paint a waterproof membrane over the self-leveling compound before laying the tiles?

I am currently waiting for plumber to come and planning to have this built in waschmachine. Are there any special requirments for water supply and drainage behinde this built in wasching machine? I will definetly make sure he knows i will have that but what should i be carefull when checking if it is allright. How much space do I need behind? Thank you. Great video!
@valentinointeriors3023Ай бұрын
Hi . Normally I don’t run anything behind the integrated washing machine . Usually there is no space to push the washing machine in if you have a socket or water outlet. This depends of the kitchen manufacturer. I always install the water outlet and the socket under the sink if is next to the washing machine. Otherwise behind one of unit that is next to the washing machine. Someone under the unit if there is no space behind. I hope this helps

Excellent video. I am concerned about my floors because they are so squeeky and wobbly. So I will screw down the floorboard before proceeding and use a hard backer board regardless. Question: what is the best levelling compound for this type of job, if price wasn't an issue for the client? The absolute best of the best?
@valentinointeriors3023Ай бұрын
Hi . Levelling compound from Mapei and Ardex will do the job just fine . In my opinion the best levelling compound and adhesives are from Ball . Just remember you need a flexible one . Thank you

Hi, what fixing behind the washing machine front holds the door hinge plate? Ive tried a few fixings and cant seem to get a good fix
@valentinointeriors30232 ай бұрын
Hi . Normally the hinges and the hinge plate comes with the washing machine. If you don’t have this for any reason you will have to buy this online. There are different hinges so you need to look for one that is compatible with your washing machine.
@valentinointeriors30232 ай бұрын
And the hinge plate is secured with threaded screws into the washing machine. There is no need to drill any holes.
