@@DragRacingTV I did finally find a picture of the car but only one. Yes that car was a champagne silver/metallic pearl slightly purple. Id love to go see Mitch and share his story. He lives close to me here in Napa, might be a hell of a story. I can tell you people couldn't figure out why he was so fast but I was there when that engine was built and that was some crazy brain child stuff there.

That is rare, but it can happen with some dual thrust cam bearing sets that have a tab on each of the bearing halves. Since you only need one tab for the entire cam bearing, the way to handle it is to carefully grind the tab off of one of the bearing halves, make sure that there isn't any area standing proud that would keep the bearing half from being fully seated in the case. You could also grind a second tab slot in the other case half, but that's more difficult.

That's an interesting question, I've never tried it, but if there is a bad rod bearing I imagine that there will be metal particles floating around and potential crank damage, so I'd guess that it's not a good idea in the long run.

the orange high-temp rtv sealant is what we used, it didn't leak... be sure and push the jug down to fully seat it, before the rtv sets up and gets hard, don't want the jug sticking out even slightly from the case.

@@newvilla8115 mike actually used permatex 2b under the jugs, probably in part because it has a slow cure time... we use gasgacinch on the pushrod tubes, orange rtv under the head stud nuts to help seal against oil leaks... one thing to think about is that we made this video decades ago, and the sealant technology has changed and improved since then.

A lot of people don't, at least not with stock motors, but I would say that it's better to be safe than sorry.
