Yup, it's a copy of the electric mistress. I can't say whether it's an accurate one, but I know it's a very solid flanger for the price.

How do feel this compares to the Cali76 Compact Deluxe or DryBell Unit 67, and which would you recommend? They all seem to be based on (or interpretations of) the UA 1176.

I've not personally tried either. Lee, on our team, has a Cali and swears by it. I think the origin stuff is perhaps a bit more involved than this one, I found the Wampler very easy to dial in. I think they are all well respected, so I'm not sure there is a bad choice to be had. Hope that helps 👍

Hmm, but when you buy a Variax without a Helix? could you still use the workbench?

The workbench software is available stand alone, it doesn't require a helix. The helix allows you to switch guitar model at the same time as the patch. It's a great feature but not essential

Was thinking of getting something like this for my Marshall 9005 50 watt rack amp .. The Kracken does it have send and return so I can run another pedal or even a Decimator if needed ? Really cool I like it if this will fit my needs I won’t be looking for a rack Preamp that’s the norm I will get something like this . The Kracken sounds good to my ears with Marshall tones on steroids 🤘

It’s not hard to get the univibe texture but the raw guitar sound is tricky. I can’t even say “oh just add mids” because that won’t do it either. The boosts and cuts in the eq curve are really distinct that’s what makes the sound so signature.

Like stuff like this: I chose alt button more ferdback but the pedal doesnt recognize. Or I change feedback, leave the alt button and after seconds the pedal takes over the feedback change for the firstblayer: mix. STUPID GLITCHY PEDAL

The worst piece of trash I ever posessed. The worst thing is that the alt button is glitchy and often doesnt recognize switches. I would 100 percent need all the features but the execution is just piss piss poor. The delay times on an alt button??? Whyyy meris why? And in order to do tweaking you almost need zoom glasses, like seriously I always have to cone 5 cm close to see shit. Aaaaah sadness. This pedal should have beem absolutely in a big format (strymon volante or noghtsky tweakability)

I just bought a used one of these and to my ears it seems like the chorus/vibe toggle works in reverse i.e. the vibe setting is the chorus setting. Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure mine is a more extreme sound with the vibrato mode on, which is what I'd expect. It could have been wired backwards in the factory maybe 🤔
