Thank you Steven. I have two sites with T0 Stateful services in A/A P/P scenario! These sites have their own Network and they will be used as the DR site for each other as well ( so the stretched segments are usable in DR case only!). first of all,with the new NSX feature (A/A stateful support), can I use A/A T0 local egress in each site for stateful service? and is it possible to use BGP and AS-prepending to advertise each network and avoid asymmetric routing for each site???
@TechUnGlued15 күн бұрын
At the time of composing this answer, the Release note for NSX was not available (Thanks Broadcom). If I remember correctly the T0 A/A for Stateful services was for the F/W service only (I could be wrong here).. The main thing here is, support for a Stretched T0 A/A all Primary with Stateful services in Federation, I do not have the answer for that. You will need to reach out to VMware support and see what they say.. Keep us posted and thanks for watching..

Thanks for the detailed explanation. It really helps. I just have one query - you deployed one NSX manager from the vCenter and configured the other two in the NSX GUI. Is it going to create the two manager VMs in vCenter as well on the selected esxi?
@TechUnGlued21 күн бұрын
Yes. Since I registered vCenter server as a Compute Manager I am able to deploy the 2nd and 3rd NSX Managers from within the NSX GUI. At 15:28 you will see where I specify the vCenter server and the cluster to deploy the 2nd Manager.. Hope this helps. Have a good one

Hello, let me ask questions, please. 1. If we connect nodes directly to each other for vSan traffic, and put the command for witness communication through management, then what happen when we loose management traffic for a host isolation? We know that we might loose management traffic but HA has ability to check if the host is truly isolated or not communicating with datastores. My question is, what would happen if we lost management traffic but host is not really isolated? 2. I assume we can use 2 Node vSan cluster for "room" failure, right? Let say put each node in a separate rooms and create 2 Node vSan cluster. In this case, can we use affinity rules to distribute VMs compute between both hosts? Part of VMs running on one host other part on second host and when failure occurres, all VMs run on survived host? Thank you.
@TechUnGlued21 күн бұрын
Great Questions.. Question 1. vSAN with HA does not use Datastore heart beats, unless you have some form of shared storage between the host other than vSAN.. To answer you question, if the management network fails, both node would still be able to see each other on the vSAN network, but they won;t be able to see the Witness, so vSAN would still function. Just treat it as a Witness Failure. Just check this article.. core.vmware.com/resource/vsan-2-node-cluster-guide#sec7423-sub1 Question 2. Don't see why you can't do that.. Thanks for watching and have a great day.

Hi, Thank you for your video I want to setup a new vSAN 2 node system. for a witness separate host (server). Do I need to buy a vSphere license to deploy ESXi and witness appliance there?
@TechUnGlued23 күн бұрын
Really good question. The witness appliance is a ESXi host in a VM format. So it needs to run on an ESXi host. Now before Broadcom you could run it on the Free version of ESXi, but they dropped that.. So looks like you will have to have a licensed copy of ESXi for the witness to run on. As usual check with your Account rep.. Have a good one.

@TechUnGlued28 күн бұрын
Sorry to hear that. You may to do a reinstall and hopefully you have a backup of your NSX Environment. If you have Grub enable (more than likley not) you can do this.. docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-NSX-T-Data-Center/3.2/administration/GUID-8816B842-2EC4-40A8-A618-F68DB29FABD2.html Have a good one

Just to add to this. If you have NSX setup with AD or some other Directory service, if someone has the Enterprise Admin role they can reset the Admin password.. Going to assume no here.

Unfortunately not, no GRUB enabled either.The only option left it to reinstall, no backup.Just wondering if i reinstall NSX Mgr again with all same details which had running previously.How do i register my existing Edge nodes ? Waiting...thank you for taking time and replying. You are awesome 😊
@TechUnGlued25 күн бұрын
This is a join command that can be run on the Edge Nodes but you need the NSX admin password.. Even if you were able to join the edges, what about the segments, gateways, transport nodes and f/w rules.. Right now your dataplane is functioning, doing what you describe may bring it down.. You may want to open a call with VMware support.. Keep us posted..

There is an option in rules setting for Direction (In, Out, In-out) this is for logging like it captures only incoming traffic if we select IN, ougoing if we select OUT, capture both if we select IN-Out? or it defines the data flows? like if we select IN-OUT, will it enable the bidirectional?
@TechUnGlued28 күн бұрын
This is for logging from the view of the destination. "IN" will only log in bound traffic, "Out" - Will log only outbound traffic and "In-Out" will log both. Have a great day and thanks for watching..
