Yeah, I’ve really enjoyed the faster tempo. I’ve actually usually heard it faster still than even this tempo, and I made a new recording that clips along even quicker.

Why aren't you playing martellé?
@rohwermusicstudios3 ай бұрын
When I was recording this one, I didn't like the martelé stroke as I felt there was more room for musicality by eliminating the accents and percussiveness. In the future, I might experiment more with martelé and see how I can still create the beautiful lines that are possible with this etude.

Why one EARTH, would you slow dissolve into the next page? You end up six bars behind.
@rohwermusicstudios4 ай бұрын
Hi Dan. The reason was that I only had PowerPoint to use when I made this video many years ago, so fades were less predictable than with video software. It took several hours to try and sync up my changes with the music, and I originally only made this as a quick reference for my students. Thanks for noticing some of the quirks with this old format; I I intend to re-record the duet and remake the video sometime in the next year.

1:53 what fingering did you use for this? This chord is impossible for me
@rohwermusicstudios2 жыл бұрын
Starting from the top note, 4 | 3 | 2 | 2. Bottom two notes are a perfect fifth apart, so you'll have them on both bottom two strings, the third finger on A-string will feel like a whole step above the 2nd fingers, and the 4th finger on the E-string will feel a half step above the 3rd finger.
@rohwermusicstudios2 жыл бұрын
If you don't mind shifting into 2nd position, you could also do 3 | 2 | 1 | 1
@bozartspianoarchive35462 жыл бұрын
this one wasn't hard, but my teacher has me doing the variations. Im doing the 11, 13th and 21st variations (the stuff on top of the page) and the 13th isn't hard, but the 11th and the 21st are so frustrating.

@bozartspianoarchive35462 жыл бұрын
0:32 this kinda hard for me, any tips on how to practice this section?
@rohwermusicstudios2 жыл бұрын
Yes! I would go with the shifting that is in measure 24 and stay in 3rd Position. If you stay in third position, it's easier to get to these notes. On measure 25, the fingering is 1 | 2 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 3, and you'll want to make sure and have close half steps between 1 & 2. If it's tricky playing in 3rd position, slow work (and maybe writing in the finger references - let me know if you need the sheet music) can help. If it's tricky getting the intonation, I would start with slow work listening that the notes are in tune, and then break down the measures into quarter note sections at a faster speed to get the feel of finger distance at that fast speed. Did this answer your question? Let me know if you've got other questions as well!
