Wow, it seems Biker Dave is a copy of an older game that was on the Prinztronic 5000. A very strange console my Dad had in the early 80's. I actually loved that game when I was little. 😄 Nice video, thanks, and kudos for having the patience in this day and age!

My mom still complains about how we made her read these to us so we could type it in. Also my dad had a "boggle" game he sold on tape and sent them via mail order.
@JustWasted3HoursHereАй бұрын
Oh man, me and my friend used to spend HOURS typing in those old programs only to discover that it didn't work! This was usually because one of us typed something wrong, but about 10% of the time it was Compute's fault and they would print a correct the following month. Some pretty great programs and games here and there over the years. Two that stand out were "Doodle", which was a fairly comprehensive art program with some impressive features for the day, though it only supported monochrome graphics (no multicolor mode); and "Turbo Tape" which was a utility to save your programs in a special format on tape so that it would load about 5 times faster than normal (close to disc drive speed in fact). It could load fast on any C64, even one that did not have Turbo Tape running on it, which I thought was very clever.

as i could knew, It’s OLD NEWS,but what i didn’t knew that it required the ram expansion to work,the gamegear has less ram then the C64 but it still could just run the entire game,but i guess that original version uses bankswitching while in this case i suppose the whole game has to be loaded into that ram expansion and run it from there, mmm.

As far as I know the REU is mainly used to achieve that fast scrolling of the level graphics, as the REU contains a DMA chip for fast data transfer which the stock C64 does not have, and which is used here as a kind of accelerator card.
@yaggieboat3 ай бұрын
It appears in this game that you can load the entire contents into the REU memory so you don't need to disk swap as well. I have to say, I wish there were more uses for the REU as it is pretty awesome. I never had one back in the day. Now with the C64 Maxi.... everyone that has one of these machines has an REU.

Loose the joystick is 30 Euro. I don't consider hat very cheap for an item like this. Remember there's also Alisexpress. And I agree: throw away the joystick that comes w/ the Maxi or Mini: it's too stiff to use.

Question: is it possible to connect a line printer via some usb adapter and get it to print from geos etc?
@yaggieboat7 ай бұрын
I have not seen a way to do that but that would be awesome if you could. What I have done is use Geos in an emulator and I am able to print that way to a PDF file and then transfer that file over to my modern day computer and print it out on the printer. I’ve also used that method to print with print shop and non-Geos applications as well.

Use the tags listed in the back of the owner manual. Rename the Geos file you have to something like GEOS_M6RDAO.d64 and it should work fine assuming you have a good Geos copy.

I have one suggestion how do I install GEOS on the c64 maxi you can't just drop it in the usb thumb stick this stuff is driving me nutty
@yaggieboat9 ай бұрын
It is easier than you realize. First off, some versions I have tried simply don’t work. The ones that do you just need to alter the file name to include the right “tags”. You can see this at the 00:33 time mark in the video. Have your .d64 image named like this. GEOS_M6ADRO.d64 and if you have a good copy of Geos then it just works. Tags are listed in the owner manual for THEC64.
