The movie is inspired by the games and books. In the movie are "easter eggs/ clues" just like the games. It makes me believe the movies are their own thing, they have their own lore and storyline. I'll give an example. In the beginning of the movie. It shows golden bonnie (William Afton) luring the kids back one by one in the restaurant. He doesn't do that in the games. He took only two children from the Freddy's location and the others from outside it. Another example. Golden Freddy's ghost (Cassidy/ Vengeful Spirit) can be seen AS the boy William sees in the beginning. He thinks the boy is being taken when it's just his father that pulls him away. In another scene where the child's cries out "daddy!" You can see the child has different colored hair but the same clothing. Showing the "ghosts" were already messing with him far longer then the movie makes you think. While it doesn't make sense now, the next movie might shed some light on it. Mike Schmitt is supposed to be Williams Afton's son. Vanessa only viewed herself as Williams daughter. Alot of characters have seemingly switched their roles or there's a bigger story to tell. They just showed the most simple one so new fans/viewers could begin to follow along.

Every Movie about war just proves that in any country or no matter what perspective you look at it war was never a good option for peace it wasn't then and it won't be now it is a lesson brought by the past and needed to be taken seriously in the present and hopefully not repeated in the future there's no winning in war one may claim itself as a victor but truly everyone loses especially the soldiers who fought in it.
