Oscar Peterson! Grande!!!

I had to add the fact that everything he plays comes from his grounding in the blues...that's something I find absent from so many modern players today. There are tons of high level players that have a lot of harmonic feats but don't connect on a visceral level like Oscar.

Oscar swings from the first note. He can't NOT swing! Always blown away at his mastery.

How the hell does he have such a distinctive sound. A few seconds and you know it's him. It' s a damn piano, and yet...

Peterson is so unbelievably brilliant and seems to defy physics with his speed, depth, and accuracy in his playing and his improvisation is just off the charts.

Wow!! Oscar has always been my favorite! I’ve always loved this song. This version… was absolutely incredible! The musical ideas, switch to Boogie-woogie in this was fantastic! Thanks for providing this!

thank you very much for sharing, this excerpt must be from the same evening where Oscar is joined by NHOP for a duet, where they will play : heres that a rainy day, nightchild ,poeple, (,but this piece was not included in the teledifuson) And it's Oscar Peterson's very first appearance on television for me! I was a young boy, that night I fell definitely in love with jazz :)

Until Oscar came along, universally Liszt was considered the greatest pianist of all time. Now, according to Yehudi Menuhin it is Oscar Peterson. May he rest in peace, the. beauty he bestowed on us, will stay forever.
