The S works I rented was about 230 euros for 5 days from Nano bikes. I emailed them to check availability, paid a deposit and the rest when I got to the shop. Great effort- I'm going on the 24th for a week, staying at Pollensa and IF I attempt this (got loads of other rides in the Garmin) I'll pay the 37 Euro to get a shuttle to the Repsol garage at Lluc. It's 46km plus 1000m elevation before you even have to climb back out otherwise, the shuttle drops that to 300m and can easy zone 2 it to the bottom for the attempt.... I'm off out up Cairngorm again today(lucky training ground but some very steep sections on that)- like you said the UK has a lack of these long, fairly consistent gradients so hopefully it would be about pacing it and getting the HR right...If I can do sub 1hr I'll be happy. Your camera footage on the descent reminded me of my first descent of the Bealach Na Ba in 2006 on a GT Avalanche MTB on slicks, with a "prosumer" Fuji camera gaffa taped to my helmet that captured more of the road in front- when you watch it you keep craning your head backwards trying to get a view lol.... hit 62mph on that descent after exiting the hairpins onto the steepest part...dodging sheep and campervans (pre NC500, it's ruined now!!) Psychologically Sa Calobra is punishing I reckon- due to making you do the descent first- it isn't what we think of as natural- should be the climb followed by the rewarding descent!!!!
@Russ_Dillon

Thanks, have you seen my latest Sa Colabra video? I hope you have a great time and the Cairngorms are a great place to ride, I went through there when I did lejog. Good luck on the sub 1 hour, steady pacing and keeping a positive mind will get you there. Ha ha the go pro angle was bad on that trip, it's taken a while to get it better. Let me know how you get on.
