Kirkland - one the best pianists in jazz, unfortunately underrated. He was a titan on the keys! R.I.P.

I'm wondering how this popped up on my feed, good stuff. Is there an interview anywhere so that we can get to know more about you, your approach to the horn and your musical upbringing? Edit: Sorry, I see this isn't Kisor's actual channel

Not really. People leave the mark they’re meant to leave. Proof? Even tho Fats died young, his example and influence still spread like wildfire. He became the main influence on Clifford Brown who in turn influenced everyone from Donald Byrd to Wilbur Harden, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, Booker Little, Woody Shaw, and countless others. Roy Hargrove had lots and lots of Fats in his playing. He left the mark he was supposed to leave, a gigantic one.

I must have watch this little gem of a clip 100 times. It never gets old. An ascendant Freddie Hubbard, and Blakey doing what only Blakey does on the drums. Pure joy!!!

Yo Ray! Thanks so much for putting this up, I'd never heard this, WOW! is this Barry Ulanov's Metronome All Stars recording available on CD? I can't really find much about it online.

Hey Craig! I’m so sorry that I never saw your question until just now. It’s indeed a Barry Ulanov all star session but not the metronome one, it was for a radio broadcast called “Bands For Bonds.” Hope you’re well!

Just another day at the office for Woody and Freddy ! You have to admit to get the two world's greatest trumpet players on the stage at the same time was a real feat. Goes to show you how little ego they had .They can Never be surpassed ,just my opinion ! At 3:38 Woody leaves his mark Dayum!
