Sadly no :( I'm having to go on disability and most disqualify once married due to joint income, even though we can barely live off of his alone. And I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome as well as a myriad of comorbidities, including: chiari, cranial cervical instability, GI dysmotility, suspected autoinflammatory, etc. Etc. In layman's terms: I'm sick 😫 But my fiance is my tru love, he's by my side stronger and stronger every single day. As soon as I can work on my own, which I do pray to be able to do one day, the first thing we will do is tie the knot 🪢

Not yet. We will have to have a long engagement thus to marriage making it harder to qualify for disability from the state. But one day I pray to get better enough to make a life without supplemental income and we can marry 🙏

Sadly the condition I have has nothing to do with diet. I've tried changing and it does not help. I will be getting my ostomy next month which will change my life, but for me it'll be worth it

This subreddit has opened my eyes. I mean, I always knew I was being judged by medical practitioners but now it feels like having this substantial evidence that these biases are so deeply ingrained within medicine further solidifies what Ive been experiencing. Truly baffling behavior.

Interesting statistic, but around 21% of men leave women when their wife has a serious illness as opposed to only 2% of women leaving men when the same occurs. Now, I identify as Nonbinary but was born female so the statistic still holds up. Not that my partner would ever leave me, he is my rock, but the general assumption you made I wanted to point out was factually incorrect.

If my fiance did not accept me for who I was, he wouldn't be my fiance. When I say that, what I mean is that he knew long before that proposal how I felt. I came out to him about my experiences years ago. Happiness in a relationship is also reliant on self happiness, you can not trade one for another. I appreciate that you think what you are saying is helpful it actually furthers the narrative that people such as myself have to mold ourselves into people we aren't to recieve love. The fact you jump to the assumption my fiance isn't okay with this, as if that changes who I am inside, is an unfair jump to make. No one should ever have to hide who they are because someone else is "uncomfortable" with who they are. He accepts me and loves me unconditionally. If he judged me for being genderfluid that would be a conditional love, and no one should ever have to be in a conditional relationship. There is nothing wrong with me. The most important thing is that I am honest with myself and happy within myself. Otherwise I could never be truly happy. I hope every single person on this planet can live a life authentic of who they are and not be afraid of being rejected, just like I am lucky enough to do with my fiance.

@autumnskylardoeseverything You misunderstand, I wasn't saying you should mold yourself to his liking. I was actually implying more that I hope your position doesn't change your want to marry him. I wasn't really implying that he would take issue with who you are. The proposal was very touching, and I saw a man who loved and accepted you for who you are unconditionally. Why would I think that he would take issue with your gender identity?? Could you be a tad bit on a hair trigger defensive? Maybe. I get it, other folks on here aren't exactly being kind. I assure you, I wasn't being condescending.

I jumped to the conclusion I did because the majority of comments I get are asking if my fiance is OK with this or saying my fiance should leave me, on a video that had nothing to do with him, so when he was brought up again I jumped to the defense
