Had that on my little 1025 tractor a couple of times. I guess brush and gravel guards only come on the offroad models. Seems like a lot of this equipment was designed - probably quite rightly for suburbia not acreages. haha Thanks for tuning in . . .

mr. kettner, would you mind quoting the serial number or model/product number of the narrow-nosed Oregon bar that allows you to use your log wizard efficiently on your stihl electric chainsaw? thanks!

I'm out on a bit of a road trip right now but will make every attempt to do that when I get back. Don't hesitate to send me a reminder in a week. My local chainsaw shop had them hanging on the wall . . . If memory serves me right it was the Oregon Powercut bar (as opposed to more snub nose DuraCut). Thanks for tuning in . . .

I had the same problem with my bar's nose sprocket being too wide. the chain was cutting a separate groove to the right of the planed surface. I had to buy a second 16 bar, narrower than the first one. I thought log wizard could hav saved me $60 by warning of this potential problem in their installation instructions.

Hello H & C, does this explain why you kids went AWOL for a few weeks? Busy getting this new workshop up? Looks great by the way, if you notice a bit of moisture oozing out of the screen, it's just me drooling. 30 x 65 so how many vintage machines does that equate to parked side by side? Does poor wee Coral actually understand your long term plan? Your old Fergie did a good job leveling but maybe the truck driver could have done a better job of spreading. But at the end of the day you are happy playing with your toys and that's what matters most. Cheers from me.
@howardkettner
@howardkettner 4 күн бұрын
And here's a big Cheers from Coral and me to you. Your comments always create great smiles at this end. The shed will definitely house some vintage machines, but also will be a great spot to keep some sawmilled lumber in a dry spot. And Coral knows that the more time I spend working on vintage machines, the more animals she can get. Which by extension means, the more of my time that she can get for building new animal enclosures and feeding systems! Too much fun! All the very best!

Great question. And clearly a topic for a new video. What I can say anecdotally is that it is very frugal on fuel. I refuel it about every 6 hours, and by my best estimate it takes about 8 litres at that point. Huge thanks for tuning in and being part of my adventure/journey.

Yeah my dad hot swindled into buying a POS John Deere riding lawn mower. Brand new. He mowed his lawn with it a couple times the it wouldn't go forward or backward. With less than 24 hours on it. Come to find out, the rear end gears were made of plastic. Went to john Deere and got the replacement part, which was also made of plastic and told the snake oil shyster that my dad will never have another john deere piece of crap again. He never did either. John deere can go bankrupt for all I care.
@howardkettner
@howardkettner 7 күн бұрын
Ouch - what a horrible experience. What was the Chief Operations Officer at John Deere thinking when he approved plastic gears. I'm sure that probably half the engineering staff resigned at that point. Just crazy. Here's hoping that all of the crazy stuff at John Deere opens up the marketplace for a new quality producer. Thank you for tuning in and being part of the conversation.

@howardkettner
@howardkettner 9 күн бұрын
I don't disagree. And I'm very conflicted about buying another Deere product. However it would appear that Deere is taking the brunt of the heat right now because of their marketplace profile - it's recent labour issues, etc., and while Deere is attracting the headlines I'll bet that others are taking advantage of that smokescreen and quietly doing likewise. For instance, the manufacturer Case. Here's a recent quote from Wisconsin State Farmer, May, 2024: "A year after workers won wage increases through a lengthy strike, the corporate owners of a 180-year-old farm equipment manufacturer in Racine County are laying off staff and shifting work to Mexico. The Case tractor factory in Mount Pleasant has cut about a third of its workforce."

"Another oldie joins the party." What are we talking about here? The Fergie or the Kettner? That old John Deere is so cool, even with a trainee squirrel chaser at the controls, it's wonderful to watch. Shame about the shed being in the wrong place, it would look far better in my back yard. I was adopted by 2 Canada geese once. Their flock would hangout during their migration to orcas island for about 2 weeks on near the pond on the property. They would all eat the feed i threw out for them. 2 of them would come right up to me and let me pet them while the rest stayed around 15 feet from me. That went on for about 4 years.
