Very helpful video! Thank you very much for putting it together! I was looking for an affordable solution, where me and my band could use for rehearsing and have everything in each individual outputs. Looks like this thing could do.

perfect, just what i was looking for the L12 with an ACTUAL guitar band - by the way, your explanation is perfect for a technophobe like myself!

Cool video and a great help to prospective buyers and current owners alike - thanks! The only query I have is having gain on your channels and a really low master output seems a bit odd? Wouldn't you be better with less gain in your channels and more getting through the master bus to keep noise down and reduce feedback? i.e. getting as close as possible to unity gain? Or am I missing something? Either way- fab vid!

Hello : I have a little mixer question for ya. I have a small mixer for my live performance percussion playing. The mixer has fx but once you choose an effect, that’s what goes to all the channels and you can only control how much or how little. I need to put multi fx on all channels and on some of the channels, I need different fx than the other channels. How can I achieve this ? Is there a live performing mixer that can do this or do I need to chain pedals together and connect to the aux send of the mixer ? ( I need a small mixer that can handle my 6 mic inputs.) I would love to be able to put a simple reverb on say…my congas, but then a flanged wilder reverb on my timbale. Those are the kind of things I’m trying to achieve while playing live. Thanks for your help !

If I’m not mistaken - L12 & L8 can be powered with AA batteries. L20 cannot but it has all combo jacks still w more channels AND iPad control functionality, which is originally why I didn’t consider the zooms (L8/L12) at all. I’ve used the L12 and as a stand alone live mixer it took a second to understand (plus AUX OUT cannot run through snake, must be direct) Never considered the L20 until your comment about the DI Box, but seeing the iPad compatibility adds interest to me. But I did need / want battery option / portable option so might end up with two L8 & L20 haha If the L12 (and L8) offered the iPad control even at an additional $100 it would’ve made them all that much more worth the price. I think Zoom dropped the Ball on that

Is audio from the tracks(stems) from the sd card or room sound?

14:17 would it make sense to drop the gain on the speakers so your master is at unity for finer volume control?

Hi, I have a zoom livetrak l-20, I wanted to know if it happens to you too, practically when I solo a track the volume of the same increases why?

6:06 I like these, as I am not a metal player so I don't need that much distortion, but I do have a boss katana, s m steel/cobalt/Nyxl's with gain less than 1/2

what a fantastic video. no KZfaq bullshit, just information. Id like to add that 9/10 & 11/12 are line level channels. So you can record 2 line level instruments per channel and separate them later if you want, it really does have 12 channels, just not the ones you wanted. Its not a failing, its just the difference between line level and the 8 Pre Amp channels. Ive recently bought this mixer/recorder/interface and use it mainly as an Interface with Cubase because I wanted more inputs for live stuff. Ive not tried the internal recorder yet. One thing i can say for sure is that the preamps are superb compared to the Scarlett 2i2 i was using before, the noise floor is fantastic. So clean in comparison. Also the FX is great for sending reverb to the headphone mix when overdubbing without having it baked into the recorded sound. - quick edit - i only really use 1-10. I keep 11-12 to bring the output of Cubase back via USB.

Great video. Thanks for sharing this video. We use spot 1 guitar and 2 is the bass not mic d , it DI out of our amps. Our issue we have to almost no gain and still are clipping. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Great video, and it answered a lot of questions. I do have one more about 9/10 and 11/12... Can I run line out from my bass/piano/guitar directly into these channels and something like bass into 9, guitar into 10 as separate mono channels?

Extremely well made, clear, precise video. I am considering buying the L12 for sometime but was unsure whether to buy the L12 or the L20. Was also considering the Tascam model 12/ model 16. This video has made it clear that the L12 will do just fine. I have gone through most of the videos available on KZfaq regarding these mixer/ recorders. Your video is just the one I was looking for.... thanks a ton for making my life a wee bit easier 😊

YOUR VIDEO IS A GOLD MINE! :) Thanks a lot for that, it's very precise, lots of advices, your a master ! :) I'm sad that this mix table cannot record effects with the tracks! I'm looking for this for my personnal use (my brand new personnal channel that you can check now ;) ) and to record rehearsals of my Beatles Band to work at home with, without having to mix anything in post, I want to win time! And the multitrack recorders (zoom R20 etc...) are just toys! Do you think I could find my hapiness in some device? Have an idea? Cheers from France! About live performance... When I connect headphones to mixer, guitar to amp and amp to mixer will my amp give sound around the room or I hear signal only in headphones? I need device for 5 people for "silent" live jam sessions but we need to hear master signal /eventually own ones only in headphones without hearing it from amps is that possible in l12?
