The future is now old man. Jk tho, nostalgic traditionalists pointing to a romantization of the past is a tale older than Aristotle. If you really wanted to make a good rant about the decline of a good society, most zoomers would agree that the music industry of the 70's 80's and even 90's was better than the shit music executives like today. Very few zoomers are asking for 'straightenin' by one of the Migos. That's a boomer executive asking for that, and then a boomer consumer blaming zoomers for that boomer executive who greenlighted that monstrosity.

Nita Have you involved Smethwick Heritage Centre with your project as they have many artefacts and items related to Chance Glassworks in their Museum Store at High Street, Smethwick in The Lodge of Victoria Park, right next to The Great War Memorial and Smethwick Town Hall.....? I would be willing to liaise with you and the folk at Smethwick Museum as I am involved there.Best wishes with this! I think that a #LandlockedLighthouse celebrating Chance's Glass is a great idea saving Sandwell Heritage Keith Bracey @1truclaretnblu [email protected] Read my Birmingham & Black Country Blog from Downtown Bearwood at keithbracey.wordpress.com Facebook: Birmingham The City of Enlightenment celebrating The Lunar Men: 'The Friends that Forged the Future & created The Industrial Revolution in Birmingham at SOHO House and making Steam Engines at SOHO Foundry in Smethwick at another great Smethwick industrial giant: Avery Limited

Dear Morg....Chance Brothers Glassworks is a Scheduled Monument. Grade 2 listed Building. It was built in 1824 and closed in 1981. It was responsible for illuminating lighthouses worldwide, (2400 of them) laboratory glass, glass for NASA, The Crystal Palace...300,000 panes of the largest glass of its time, the four faces of the BIg Ben Clock tower...and much more. The plan is to build a lighthouse that people can visit on the site in Smethwick alongside affordable homes, a canal basin, places to live and shop. The remaining buildings will be used to create this mostly unused space. There will be nothing like it in the Midlands...it would be to us like the Angel of the North is to Gateshead... If the skip hire continues, there won't be a soul that would want to live there because of the noise and pollution it causes. Even if the building was knocked down for a new build, no one would want to build near a tip...a waste of space. BTW...no one wanted the Angel of the North...now its something that puts Gateshead on the map. It's a shame for the Skip hire company, it's not their fault that they were given a piece of land by a landlord that was effectively on borrowed time. Hope that answers your question. BTW The planning permission was stopped and letters were received as far away as Australia (they love their lighthouses), but it's being challenged again. warmest wishes
