How do these compare to the Kef R11 meta?

I auditioned the Ultra Evolution Pinnacles last weekend. They were in about a 16' X 24' room. They were about 10' to 12' apart, facing straight ahead 12' from my listening position. It sounded a little boomy to me, but I felt they were too close to the wall and corners of the room. I then listened to the Titans, which were in a bigger room with a sub, and they sounded much tighter and faster bass response. Both systems were powered by Marantz Cinema 40 integrated. I do believe the Pinnacles needed more power to control the woofers. It would be interesting if James would review the Titans and compare the two.

Typical, you failed to take in the considerations of all the levels of your viewing audience. You started punching buttons on the controller without instructing on what buttons to activate. Menu is not the correct button. That wrench looking thing is. Did I read the pamphlet? No this is why KZfaq is so popular, it is visual.

Folks, Gene is spot on in his comments! I'm 65, became an Electronics Technician doing individual component level (capacitor, inductor, semiconductors, regulators, ICs, you name it) repair working on various Radio Frequency gear where AC inductive and capacitive reactance are massively bigger influencers. 24 years worked Electrical Engineering in Railway Signal design/programming etc. Sure a good quality RELIABLE cable/speaker wire is important but even technically high quality cables for AUDIO are super cheap compared to the ridiculous blingware $$$$ Gene is referring to. Now if we were talking Radio Frequencies (think 1,500,000,000 Hz compared to 15,000 Hz) The math and engineering does not lie no matter how sparkly your cables are. Wise people listen to folks who base their inputs on real life physics they learned through real intensive training. When you know how they work, you instantly understand why changing a short power cord simply doesn't have the capacity to improve the sound on any remotely properly designed and functioning equipment. While I've worked in numerous areas of electronics, AUDIO Electronics has had the most rumors and plain incorrect info (mostly from folks just repeating other folks rumors etc. from someone they saw on YT or electronics store salesman)

How do these compare to Polk R700s?

I'm glad James brought up the fact that these are more of a (4) ohm speaker. With this many drivers you really do need a robust amp. Alot of receivers wouldn't do well driving these at higher volumes. A prime example is : a pair of the JBL HDI 3800's. With the (3) demanding 8" woofers, a Rotel RB1590 was blowing out left or right channels on (3) brand new amps at reference levels. Had absolutely no problems with a (Arcam PA240, Peachtree SE220 or My NAD M 23.

I have the Focal Kanta 2, and the Klipsch RF7III, honestly this new SVS speaker feels like it might be a combination of the both of them. Might consider this one seriously. Except for the dang price here in Australia. Bought the focals for $6.5k and the Klipsch for $3.8k. But the SVS is $10.4k and svs products are hard to negotiated down with unfortunately 😕

I wonder how them compare to the tekton MOAB at the same 5k price..........

Interesting thoughts about the fullrange talk. I run my O.G Ultra Towers with a 80hz crossover even tho they also provide alot of bass by themselves. But i also have SVS 2x PC-4000. Anyone think i should run the towers fullrange?

Everyone is gonna add subs no matter if they need or not. That's a given.

Companies should stop with the one upmanship naming of products. What happens if they make a better speaker? They’re already at Pinnacle so what could be higher? Should they name the better one the Zenith or really go for it and call it the Zenith Pinnacle Ultra tower speaker. They’ve locked themselves into a corner. I think they should start over and call their speaker lines Good, Better and Best. At least this still leaves room for Silver, Gold and Platinum editions.

These speakers are incredibly cheesy looking. I’m surprised so many people think they look good. Looks like a cheap speaker trying to look high end and failing miserably. Very awkward visual design.

Would you recommend running their original Ultra Towers full range as well?

I'm no expert but considering the high cost of gold connectors, just twist your RCA connectors a quarter turn back and forth a few times every once and a while or clean them with contact cleaner about once a year. You're covered. Would the decrease in five percent thickness of silver stranded speaker cable that would be equivalent in resistance to a 5% thicker copper strand, decrease inductance? Not that it would matter much if any.

i have rarely seen a marketing ground game launch as well done as this svs campaign. they are EVERYWHERE promoting these new products. this will be a model for companies to follow for years. i love their subs and assume these are a great value as well

Really curious about the idea of not needing subs. These are listed up to 300 watts per speaker. How can 300 watts split across 6 drivers (4 eight inchers) be enough to even remotely compete with the amps driving single woofer subs? Again not being critical but it seems like an impossible task.

If you can listen closer because of the angled drivers, wouldn't that mean problems at greater distances or does the fact that one set of woofers is angled down and one up solve this problem?

I'm confused. Right after saying you kind of need to listen on axis or it "might sound a little rocky and show some dips in the crossover points", you say that they are wide dispersion and sound close to the same across the room. Not trying to nitpick, just trying to understand. Aren't those two statements in conflict with each other? Thanks for the review.

They look weird

I’m just totally confused. My Bob Carver tube amp let the smoke out. I’m trying to replace it. I’ve listened to all different formats pertaining to amplifiers. I have a budget of approximately five grand. I’ve seen amplifiers that have variable speed controlled fans, but I’m hearing they’re noisy. lack of heat sink. I’ve seen amps weighing only 40 pounds that put out 150 to 200 W per channel. I don’t understand how there’s longevity in such a light weight system. I’m more old-school the heavier the better. Am I wrong? Out of the products that Crutchfield carries, I’ve been dealing with them since the 80s. I’m powering klipsch speakers. What is the best amp for that price range?

A clarification. I watch the utube demos not to hear how anything sounds. Not that stupid. I watch them to listen to whatever music is playing and I just like looking at the speakers.

Just buy audio cables as jewelleries.

You should've shown the connections to the connectors. That way we could've seen how they're terminated... if they were cramped, soldered, and if there's any shrink wrap to shield the positive and negative connections. Also, shielded cable in a home can act as an antenna. If you're going to show the differences, then SHOW the differences in the cables all the way to their core!

Would love to see a piece on how to best set up and use Apple Music on a high end system. Hard wired ? Does the audio processing from a phone, tablet , laptop differ or matter, etc. Lots to learn here. Thanks for the great content.

I was listening to a online demo of the new JBL HDi 1600 bookshelf speakers and I decided not to buy them because they sounded just like my 40 dollar computer speakers.

@Audioholics: These are my current Apple TV settings: Format: 1080p SDR HDMI Output: RGB High Match Content: Match Dynamic Range On, Match Frame Rate On What I want to achieve is for my TV to handle all the upscaling of the picture. A lot of sport is sent in 720p\1080p, and if i watch 4K content the tv will upscale it if i am correct? IF i choose 4K sdr and not 1080p SDR wont the picture be worse when watching 720p\1080? content?

I have 20 year old Paradigm Reference speakers. They already have a midrange/tweet dip. Gotta watch this kind of stuff, and the only gripe I have is you have to buy the app to address this.
