It’s probably straight cut gears in the transmission that make the whirring sound, they use straight cut gears to cut down on weight. Just my take, anyways.

@@followtheciaence people have both turbo and supercharged the AE86. The 4AGE engine is actually pretty good for that sort of thing. It’s mostly stuff like the drift cars that have forced induction for these Toyotas though.

Yup, you can tell by the raw sound, turbos tend to lag and spool which is why they make those sounds at high pressure
