I'm glad they cut that scene with the Witch king, it makes no sense at all, Gandalf the Grey murked a balrog single handedly. This scene (Rohan), this glorious scene needs no additional help to be one of the greatest moments in cinema history.

One does not simply watch this scene with dry eyes.

Peter Jackson throughout the trilogy proved himself to be the master of filming mounted combat. All 3 films contain great examples of mounted engagements that are: shot with stunning clarity, for the early 2000s; possess dramatic consequence, mounted engagements in his trilogy have significant impact on the story; and are beautifully woven to the cinematography, matching the score, lighting, and all other film crafting techniques sublimely. The Ride of the Rohirim is the culmination of many excellent filmmaking techniques, yet the shot alone would stand by itself for the gravitas of the situation loaned by Tolkien's tale. This scene belongs in the conversation of Best action scene of any movie ever; it surely carries the conversation of best action scene of any fantasy film ever.

The score of this scene is not glorious, it's not loud and heroic like The Avengers. It's soft and soothing, because the riders know they are charging to their death, but they do it for the greater good and for the whole Middle Earth. Their sacrifices will be remember as heroic, glorious. And above all, they arent afraid of death. They chant "Death" as to embrace it

Some people may have said that Avengers: Endgame topped this scene. To be honest though, no amount of Avengers or other heroes will top common folk of Rohan uniting to defeat the wave of Evil dropping upon the White City. Sorry, but I find Rohirrim more appealing than Avengers.

Avengers assemble was epic but nothing beats this cinematic charge. Goat of epic battle moments.

This scene right here.. Is not just a few men and women acting together to get money and go back home to continue normal life. You can literally FEEL the energy of this scene. It feels as if somebody captured a real footage of a cavalry charging at an humongous opponent. It's not just Jackson's direction, Howard Shore's score that makes this scene great. It's literally the dedication of each and every actor and actress here that radiates out and stimulates Adrenaline in our body. All Hail The Lord of The Rings Trilogy
