How come MSCI World Index didn't make this list? I know US investors have home biasness but there's no Index fund like MSCI World which can provide both returns and safety net in terms of diversification in all sectors and regions.

To obtain financial freedom, one must either be a business owner, an investor or both generating passive income particularly on a weekly or monthly basis. That's the key to living financially stable...

I sometimes wonder how successful investors manage to accumulate enormous wealth from their investment endeavours because I am an avid investor. I currently have equity from a recent house sale that exceeds $545K, but I'm not sure what to do with my money next. Is now the right moment to buy stocks, or should I wait for a better opportunity?

Undeniably factual. Despite my absence of prior investing acumen, I ventured into investments pre-pandemic and managed to amass a profit of about $450k within that year. Essentially, I solely relied on professional counsel.

Thank you for the video. I bought both VFIAX and FNILX but my question is how does your earnings compound? Having hypothetically 100 shares of an index fund will only give you profits for those 100 shares. I use fidelity, do they have something to where your earnings automatically get used to purchase more shares of that index fund at the end of the year? Also, what is the minimum time that you can claim your profit to add shares to your account? Thank you!

Humphrey... for this need, I just created a test portfolio with Portfolio Visualizer. If you put a certain amount into a dividend fund like SCHD, and then set up the test to run with a monthly payment for 10 years, you can see what it takes to go on autopilot. I LOVE this. You can put the worst 2 years of returns up front in the simulation, and see how much cash is left at the 50th percentile outcome at 5 or 10 years. I'm just going to put in enough to cover the mortgage for 5 years and set and forget it, for the 50th percentile, using either just a dividend ETF or maybe a 50/50 SCHD and treasury bond ETF mix. That's basically creating an annuity for oneself. I can decide in 5 years what to do, depending on how the portfolio overall did. This minimizes taxes, as the portfolio is in an IRA. THe mortgage is a 2.75 percent mortgage. Better to let it ride than pay 30 percent in taxes and IRMAA on a big mortgage pay down. This is for a second home. We may or may not keep it, so why pay it down and incurr a huge tax bill. For me, it's about the taxes, not the mortgage rate.

We have one income, $300,000 equity in our house, $400,000 in my 401k, $0 debt other than the remaining payments on our mortgage and $30,000 in the bank. We have two 20-year-old Honda cars that we own outright, one has 200,000 miles, the other 400,000. We don't get eaten up by comprehensive insurance, we don't have payments on leases, and we probably save at least $1,000 a month compared with buying new cars and trading up every few years. If a car gets a dent, no problem. We feel free as birds.

We Are in Unchartered Financial Waters! every day we encounter challenges that have become the new standard. Although we previously perceived it as a crisis, we now acknowledge it as the new normal and must adapt accordingly. Given the current economic difficulties that the country is experiencing in 2024, how can we enhance our earnings during this period of adjustment? I cannot let my $680,000 savings vanish after putting in so much effort to accumulate them.

Keeping some gold is usually a wise decision. You would be better off keeping away from equities for a bit or, even better, seeking advice from an expert given the current market conditions and everything that is at risk with the current economy.

You have a very valid point, I started investing on my own and for a long time, the market was really ripping me off. I decided to hire a CFA, even though I was skeptical at first, and I beat the market by more than 9%. I thought it was a fluke until it happened two years in a row, and so I’ve been sticking to investing via an analyst.

You should plan to be mortgage free at your retirement, because the extra money you would need to pay your mortgage out of your 401k would have a higher tax rate… Living of little money is the key to liquidate your 401k and any big expense should come from your Roth IRA.
