It is a smarter idea to wear gloves, heavy metals in used oil are permeable through porous skin on the hands. I wish I had been better informed when I was younger.

Hey man these videos you have on the 550 Mule have been very helpful! Do you by chance have any more videos or tricks on troubleshooting idling issues? I’m having trouble tuning the carburetor, assuming that’s where my problems is originating. Thanks

How often do you change your filter?

We check and clean it at each oil change (every 6 months or so) and change it when it gets too dirty.

So if my regulator is reading "OL" no mater where I check, do you think the regulator is bad?

My only problem with your video is you should have pulled the cover off first you could have dropped debris in the motor but other than that great video

Sorry not a comment on the headlights, but on something else I'm trying to hunt down and figure out. I took a promotion and I'm at a new location. They have a mule 550c here. Previous guy was working on it. He hooked up a new starter but didn't mount it. I doubt a gasket is needed, but is there one there? Also oddly, when I sit the starter in place, near the open end of it. Straight down, there is a hole. It has no threads on it...what is this hole? Looking in, it's a deep hole, like the outer engine wall with this hole, inside a little empty space, then another wall with another hole the same size and no threads again. I downloaded a manual, but that covers all the basic stuff you go over in your videos. Oil and filters and such. But in your videos, I can't get a good angled view of that section to see it and try to figure this out. Hoping for some help, thanks for your time.

There was not a gasket on the starter when I replaced it on our 550. As far as the hole you are referring to, I don't recall there being any abnormal gaps in the case. You can see down into the flywheel case, but nothing that caught my eye as being strange.

@@longhornshopranch2368 I wasn't very clear, reread it. Like let's say your on the passenger side. You see the spot where you mount the starter. The opposite end. I looked at some photos online, looks like a tube for oil is there, with a yellow cap.

Check out my "changing engine oil & filter" video. If you are referring to that particular tube with a yellow cap, that is the engine oil fill. There should be a black tube with a yellow cap going into said hole; That yellow cap also functions as the dipstick for the engine oil.

Hey if you could take a video of the motor bc I have on to and don’t know where one of the starter wires go
@longhornshopranch2368
@longhornshopranch2368 Жыл бұрын
I'll see if I can fit it in on my next video. There should be 2 wires that go to the starter; the larger red one goes to the upper rear post on the starter, the smaller red and black wire goes to the lower front post.

They do have a sort of rugged, simplistic attractiveness to them. This one has been in the family since new in 2017 and it has served well with few problems. If you are mechanically inclined, you can purchase a relatively inexpensive code reader from your local auto parts store to see what the code is. That will get you pointed in the direction of "where to start," especially if the car doesn't have any noticeable symptoms (sluggish acceleration, abnormal vibrations, etc..)

All this fancy work and STILL DID IT WRONG YOU DID NOT PRIME THE OIL SYSTEM hay it is your car do it any way you want
@longhornshopranch2368

I shall refer you to page 230 of the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette owners manual, where it lists the specific procedure for changing the oil in a dry-sump system (per the manual, for Z06, Grand Sport, and Stingray with Z51). The only time any engine has to be manually primed is when it has been torn down (or is a new block, like a crate engine), and there is no oil in the passages or on any of the contact surfaces. Since this was just an oil change, there is still oil in all of those places; plus with the filter primed (by me filling it with new oil) the pump doesn't have to fill the filter before getting new fluid. But regardless, the car built good oil pressure within 10 seconds of starting and continues to run normally, so i'll call this one a success.

I checked the gap before installation, but it was within the specifications provided by Kawasaki in the operators manual (0.028-0.032in.) so no adjustment was necessary
