Great video - I'm pleased to have found you whilst looking for info on aquananos - I'm looking to upgrade y fluval flex 9gl which is starting to feel super small and limited now I'm at the point of being able to stock it. A great tank to learn with though. I thought your tutorial was well balanced and informative. I'm looking to use some of the substrate from my old tank for my new one and will definitely check out those bags. The soil sand mixing is a nightmare! Anyway, please keep making videos !

Do you think a giant betta could go in a neon tetra tank?
@mattherr5122 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I have my giant betta with cardinal tetras, black neon, albino cories, panda garra, khuli loaches, and celestial pearl danios. It all just depends on the bettas temperament. Though giant bettas are less aggressive still watch out because it's a betta :)

I really like your scape. Can I please ask, what’s the name of the red plant you are using in the background? Also, I’ve been looking for a natural looking sand like yours for a while now, could you share where you got yours from?
@NanoTanksnet2 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam , thanks for the kind comment. The plant is ludwigia Repens super red mini, it’s normally green in shop but needs strong lights to bring out the red. The sand was from my local aquarium shop, it’s cheap sand about a tenner for a 5kg it’s labelled“aquarium sand BD trading”,I ordered from Seahorse Aquariums in Dublin but most fish shops stock it, best of luck and thanks for watching 🙏

Where did you get the custom tank from and how much? I've got the grey version of your cabinet and been debating the 30cubed tanks because i can't find any 40s!
@NanoTanksnet2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment, I got it made by Seahorse Aquariums in Dublin, Ireland. If in UK I recommend either aquatic design centre in London or on Amazon try all pond solutions who have lots of tank sizes all very affordable. But looks a lot better than the aqua one Nano 40 the cabinet is designed for. Best of luck and will send a new update in a few weeks as all the plants fill the spaces 👍

Hi Ben, a great comprehensive review of the aquaone, thank you. Have you had a look at the aqua one focus 36? This is a 36L tank. I'm looking at potentially buying it but trying to find reviews about it. Not many of them about. It's a recent addition to the aqua one lineup from what I can gather.
@NanoTanksnet2 жыл бұрын
Hey Nayan thanks very much. I’ve not had one but the focus 36 is similar in most ways. I think it’s all about what you want to Keep. Filter similar but on the smaller side and lights in aqua ones are pretty good as a package light. You could argue it’s a better use of space with less filter room, a tank of that size ( depending what you’re keeping ) doesn’t need a big filter. Ideally with live plants a very small filter tends to be enough. Flow is strong so maybe try reduce it or not keep fish that like little flow like Bettas. Let me know what you go for, Ben
@nayanmistry46412 жыл бұрын
@@NanoTanksnet thanks for your reply, I'm primarily looking for a small tank for the office, having a betta with some tank mates. I already have a 200L fluval show tank, but the betta would get lost in such a big tank. Its a choice between a Fluval flex or the aqua one focus 36. I don't have any experience with aqua one, so I'm just doing what I can to understand the brand. Cheers 👍
@NanoTanksnet2 жыл бұрын
Makes sense, if it were me I would buy an aquarium. just a glass aquarium from local fish shop and add a small hang on filter and cheap light from Amazon. Gives you better control of flow and add live plants and ideally floating plants as Replicates bettas natural environment. Would likely be cheaper and think would look better too as you don’t need a built in filter like the aqua one or fluval spec. Some great vids on KZfaq “Betta Nano cube”

I disagree that otos are difficult, they are the first "exotic", or what I like to consider exotic, fish that I have kept and I find them super easy providing your tank is cycled.
@baolichang60192 жыл бұрын
We just got 3 otos from petco (the last 3 the store lady could find in the tank). We have an established 30 gal tank with 11 neon/glowlight tetra, 3 corys, and some recently added live plants (java fern and water sprite). How can we tell whether these otos will survive? They are so cute, so even though we read so many articles on internet saying they are not easy to keep (mostly due to long travel) we still got them. Thank you!

The filteration system is a complete mess, it's designed for the cartridges to clean the water first, which will just clog them up, also leaves a gap from the slots to the first filter, so any small fish will end up dead in your filter, the large black sponge should go where the filter cartridges go but it doesn't fit, then bio balls in the next section of the filter followed by filter wool in the third slot. The cartridges shouldn't be used in this system if you want a proper filteration system. They are designed to go where they go because thats where they will clog up the most, i also have my doubts how much of the water passes through the cartridges anyway. Very nice tank just bin the cartridges and modify the filter.
@benleacock51953 жыл бұрын
I do agree and a good point, the space gives you options to adjust/ use different media. I used bioballs and other media but have to pack additional filter wool to stop small fish getting into filter which needs replacing now and again. Or maybe get a small grate to add onto slots. Thanks for the comment

Hey. Thanks for subscribing and the comment. It’s. A great tank really happy with it, the upgraded lighting was actually a bit strong, had to turn down to 50% so might be fine without upgrading the standard one. But it’s got great filter space that’s hidden and can pack with material of your choosing. the light I got was a Blau nano light. About 100€ /120$.

Hi Ben, Just a suggestion. I feel the flow of the tank is high. The fish will come out once the flow is normal. I feel the flow is deliberately kept high for proper distribution of CO2 but with such a beautiful landscape, the fish should be out there. Enjoy...
@finndrennan5413 жыл бұрын
You might not know the answer to this. But could I keep 6 celestial Pearl danios. 6 chili Rasboras. 6 Pygmy corys. And 2-3 clown killifish is about a 38-40 litre tank. (10 gallon)
@NanoTanksnet3 жыл бұрын
Hi Finn, Yes would be fine, I recommend a heavily planted tank, low flow for the CPDs and Chilis, I would also maybe increase the number to get 8 /10 with Chilis, very smalll and always do better in larger numbers. If its a new tank introduce slowly and add fish as it becomes more established. Best of luck and thanks for watching :)

You have Espies. Hengeli have the orange stripe only on the top and front of the black in the form of a Hockey Stick. The orange stripe stops at the front of the black and never extends below or behind the broad front part. The Espies have the orange surrounding the black part both above and below. You will see the orange behind the bottom of the broad black part. The Espie has a coppery orange colour that extends to most of the body. The Hengeli colour is more yellow and is only a thin stripe on the top and immediately in front of the black. The Hengeli colour can have quite a contrast with the transparent colour of the rest of the body, hence the name Glowlight Rasbora. Some of your fish look very much like Hengeli. The only thing that positively identifies them is that the orange extends behind the black part on the bottom. I have a school of 18 Hengeli and 20 Espies in the same 65 gallon tank. From a distance the Espies will be more orange and the Hengeli will almost look grey in comparison. While they will mingle, most of the time each group will stick to their own kind. The Hengeli are much more active. They can school very tightly and swim around the tank as a group. They love to play against the flow of the the filter while the Espie sit back and watch. Unfortunately, they are also excellent jumpers!

I think you are wrong here. Espei look very different ... look here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ZrCEorB63MrehKM.html For hengeli, well-fed and relaxed fish may take bright copper orange colors that may partially extend even under the black line (but never entirely, which is specific for espei) and the dominant males might almost look as espei in their very prime, almost red, but again, never fully red under the black hockey stick part. At least that's my experience.
