Sans KNOWS he cant win, thats why he makes the strongest and most destructive attacks right direclty instead of gradually getting harder and starting off weak attacks. He also wont spare you because he knows you are doing this just because Asgore and Flowey are easier to defeat, so he makes you give up. About the depresed sans part, no. He isnt he knows everything is repeated so he is like: "Why be sad abt it, make some jokes and dunk the human" But the thing is if sans can make an unavoidable attack, why doesnt he make it again and over again.

why doesn’t sans hear megalovania? it’s pretty much the humans theme (at least to me) because at this point of the game you’re the villain so you’re the boss

The music that Sans hear is a tetric-slowed-mix between “Fallen Down” and “Your best friend” both song go at diferent tempo so its dificult to catch them at first Btw the mix of the songs makes me think, yes, Fallen Down Sounds while Toriel is present, but can also “be Frisks theme” for the fact that sounds like a music relief, appears first time after Frisk is saved from Flowey and on the Pacifist Route when Frisk is saved from fighting Asgore. Or just is Toriels Theme, and Sans is hearing it because he still remembers her and the promise he made, but now seeing what that child is capable of the music turns in a macabre sound of what it could be once, a kid who had just fallen down, the sound of a inocent one, and the future for all monsterkind Floweys Theme on the other hand, if we got in mind that Frisk hears it too when they got the “but nobody came” stat we could assure that its because theyre following Floweys Plan and now the theme is co-related to Chara whos becoming even stronger to be noticed… So, Sans is hearing the macabre version of a Fallen Down curropted by an unsatiable desire for power
