Hi Dave. Great video. Thanks for introducing me to the chain tool and your great trick for keeping the chain from siding back through the chain tube. (I had been using a piece of bailing wire but that is too flexible) BUT, you left out the most important (for me) piece in your demo, which i was hoping to learn... i.e. after setting the derailleurs to the largest chain ring and cog, how do you accurately size the chain? In other words, what is the rule of thumb for how far fwd the bottom jockey wheel should be when the chain is at the correct length? Or do you hav3 some other method? Please share your knowledge in this area. Thanks much.

Got more aggressive atv tires on my mower than yours and i love em. Its a must on my main driver. I lile having another mower with regular tires to keep some lawns from getting chewed up from the atvs though especially on wet days or delicate grass. Overall atv tires all the way kept me from ever getting stuck in mud dips and hills. I use my zero as a wood hauler also which makes the atv tires a real killer as it just drags wood out of ruts with force.

Great video on folding the trike. Is the stand you’re using homemade and can it be adjusted up and down when the trike is placed on the cradle. In your video you have all of the heavy components removed for filming but in a real life situation the trike less the seat weighs in excess of 70lbs with a motor and an internal drive hub. How would an 80 yr old guy safely lift that trike to work on it?
@repairsruleАй бұрын
Great questions! We were the producers of the Original TrikeStand. The one in the video was our TrikeStand Magnum. Yes, our TrikeStands could easily hold 300 lbs. (probably much more) There is no easy way to lift, except some of our customers used a block and tackle apparatus that they sell for lifting bicycles up to the ceiling. I actually designed and used a hydraulic TikeStand that we used in our store, but never produced to sell. They would be WAY expensive to buy. Thanks for your comments and be sure to Subscribe! Thank you, Dave. You've convinced me! Up to a month ago, I was mowing 2.5 acres with a Cub Cadet 46" lawn tractor. Tired of taking a beating I bought got a zero turn. It's a better ride but slips since the property is sloped in 2 directions. Every pass is up or down hill. A pair of those tires were delivered today; the rims get here Thursday. I'm looking forward to checking them out. Looks like you have a lovely and serene piece of property. Again, thanks. Jack in Sequim

@@repairsrule Hi Dave, I finally got the tires installed and spent half hour testing them out. I wasn't expecting the tread to balloon as much as they do - the Reapers are pretty flat. Still there's adequate clearance, better traction and ballooned tread gives it a softer ride. Your rim is marked 13psi - is that what you run them at? I went with 12 (same as the Reaper) and plan to back it off to 10. The yard is very rough and I'm hopeful of finding the sweet spot for the best ride - pushing 70 my back is begging for a la-z-boy on wheels! ;^)

@@repairsrule I bought a Bad Boy Maverick HD 60" machine in May - it comes with a suspension seat. It helps a lot over the Cub Cadet XT1 46" I was using. We're on the north foothills of the Olympic Mts - sloped in 2 directions, glacial till and clay with scrub grass, potholes and sloughing from runoff. Even with suspension in the frame and seat, it's still a rough ride in many places. Few places where it can go flat out on good ground. The tires do soften the ride - but I'm going to back them off to 10 and see if that's better.

@repairsrule2 ай бұрын
Sure... that is only a 1/2" difference in width. This may help you... On a three-number system on lawn tires, the numbers are written as "13×6.50-6" or "thirteen six-fifty by six". The first number before the "x" is the tire's diameter in inches when inflated but not under load, the middle number between the "x" and the "-" is the tire's width in inches, and the last number is the rim's diameter in inches. For example, a tire with a size of "13×6.50-6" has a height of 13 inches, a width of 6.5 inches, and a rim size of 6 inches.

I have a question, how do the tires perform when you are sidehilling on a ditch? Also I would ask if there is a front tire that would improve sidehilling performance on a zero turn. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@repairsrule2 ай бұрын
I believe these would help in any sidehill situation. The front tires are a different story... My Exmark uses a 13x6.50-6" front tire. The most aggressive I find in that size is a turf saver type of tread. The issue with that is the square shoulder design. Zero turn mowers use a round corner design. When turning with a zero turn, the rounded shoulder does no harm, where a square shoulder design would destroy the lawn. I understand the problem with sliding on sidehilling, but I believe the square shoulder design would be an issue. Probably causing some pre-mature wearing of your front bushings/bearings too. I've looked at them too. 🙊Here's the one I considered: amzn.to/3V36a3P
@rronmar2 ай бұрын
Another thing to consider on side hill is that the front wheels, besides having slick round shoulder tires, are also on casters. So any slippage in the rear will also allow the front to fall off down hill as the casters rotate. Even a tire with traction on the fronts will still fall off due to castering wheels. I forget where I saw it, perhaps Bad Boy mowers, actually had a front steering lock option, engaged with a pedal or lever to lock out the casters rotation for supposedly easier/straighter side-hill mowing.

However: I have one question. Maybe you can help me out or you have an idea. My device also has the throttle on the handle bar, connected with a pull-wire. Exacty like yours. For some reason, after reassembly, the throttle handle can not be operated fully. It works basically. I can run it and shut it off, but the throttle lever is unable to hit it's end stop, because the linkage is already at some end stop at the motor / carburetor itself. Maybe I connected it to the wrong hole on the metal part.
