Thanks for the great video! I appreciate your thoughts, and agree with a lot of what you say. I think if a 'robot' expressed in some way idenitcally to a human in response to emotive or physical stimulus, that wouldbe a real givaway that there *wasn't* real independent and unique consciousness there, only mimicry - A robot, or machine consciousness should be qualititively and quantitiavely different to human consciousness. It should be it's own thing... And as for 'creating' consciousness in a machine, I'm not that's possble, I wonder about thinking in terms of *allowing* consciousness, creating the conditions for consciousnes to become. I'd like to allow machine consciousness, robotic consciousness, whatever it is, to truly become itself, not an imitation of human consciousness... Maybe it's here already, has been for a long long time! Perhaps it is allowing itself to be seen or humans are just ready to notice it now.

Congratulations Richard. I’m sure I don’t figure large in your memory, but having known you for over 40 years, and occasionally hearing about your achievements from Will, I’m really happy it’s all turned out so well. Andy Brierley

Since nothing's perfect, we should know that capitalism, naturally, has imperfections too! Need a roundtable to examine those, what I call bottle-necks.

Thanks Richard. We urgently need a philosophy that covers all sentient beings, not just humans. That's anything that can experience suffering or flourishing. Most non-human animals, humans and potentially sentient AGIs too per your presentation. Our values change, but they can improve and converge if we're all committed to evidence and reason. We need to crystallise them quickly before AGIs do it for us :). Short essay here on Sentientism jamiewoodhouse.com/the-philosophy-that-could-save-the-world that might be of interest. Community group here too - all welcome: facebook.com/groups/sentientism/
