I was a squatter in London for 15 years .I was also involved in the underground Techno scene there ,so we used to enter a lot of abandoned places .I used to be very alert when I went into a place ,but I had mates who used to wander around like it was Xmas or something ...I used to check every room and look into any cupboard etc etc ...they called me paranoid ..until one day some guys went into a place in South London and there was a guy hiding in the attic and a sword left in a room .rest of the place was completely bare apart from the sword ,which they took with them on their way out ...fast ...bizarre though ..the guy slammed the trap door to the attic as they were on the stairs ..they saw him looking at them ...I always told people sooner or later we will come across someone hiding in an empty place ...

It's not the mall that's a nuisance... They've killed off Northland and they're going after Easton, too. Cowtown has become little Atlanta.

Wow , I'm so shocked that they just left the old Macy's that used to be Lazarus like that all those years I was still going there in 2005-2010

I think the big room with the escalators is where the Sears used to be. It closed in 2011 I believe. If it’s not the Sears then it was the JCPenney’s which closed before the Sears if I’m remembering right. Grew up going to that mall, used to get my picture taken with Santa there. Sad to see it like this but it was a long time coming, once the Sears closed there wasn’t much to go for and a lot of crime in the area.

I commented this before you said it was the Macy’s I COMPLETELY forgot about Macy’s. All of their stores closed at the same time all over Ohio and I think the country in the early 2000s

I moved to Columbus in 2010 but grew up in a small town about an hour South. My mom and I would always go back-to-school shopping at Eastland since we didn't have a mall at home. Occasionally I pass Eastland while driving to visit my parents and feel sad that it's in such disrepair. It simply couldn't compete with the newer malls, especially Easton, and the increasing crime closed it for good. This was cool to see! Thanks for the video

Who cares ? These people vote democratic every election cycle . Urban Renewal has been promised for 60 years, guess what? It ain’t happenin. But, there’s another election coming up, so the democrats will be around to tell you who to vote for, which just happens to be the same people that have been screwing you over. So just do as they ordered you to do, and you’ll see them again in the next election cycle.

That place was once a charming place to go as teens and before. There was a movie theater at one point back in the 80's. Tons of great memories in that mall. I worked at American eagle out of highschool and the crime had already started to happen. None of the stores you are seeing are part of when it was thriving. The crime caused it to be " urbanized" where it continued to decline. Thank you for the walk down memory lane.

I've never been to Maui Sands, but I have been to the Great Wolf Lodge just up the street from Maui Sands. It's shocking how much the rooms and the waterpark look like Great Wolf.....the bunkbeds/kids rooms, the bucket that pours water over the kids play area, the kids play structure, the waterslides.....it's so similar!

Most buildings that have underground hallways that aren’t known by the masses were closed up after the events of 9/11. Especially underground steam engine train stations that certain malls were built on top of, for a way to access them. Certain train stations were made so long ago before technology advanced to move important people from one point to another without being noticed by the public are still around today. But the access points were altered so that only certain people have access to them and to keep them a secret from the public. The city will say all types of problems that exists like safety concerns and violations to code and so on to keep people away. So if you know of a mall or building that was built between 1960 and 1990 and has gone through a complete remodel after 9/11 or has been shutdown, then it’s most likely because of there may have been a underground train station there or it may had some underground hallways that lead throughout the city.

I remember my elementary school choir concerts being in the middle of the mall at Christmas. I shopped there with my family before my grandma passed away. I took my kids there to play and shop when they were little. I remember shopping in the old Lazarus store, the Sears, and the JCPENNEY long before the Macy's add-on. It's sad to see how it looks now, but I hope it's revitalized into something nice for the area, which is where I still live. I'm hoping for the same for the old Fort Rapids too.

I went to Eastland Mall as a kid and then worked there in the 80's and 90's. Thank you for the tour! If you had told us the direction of the mall you were in I could have told you what store was there, back in the day. Basically, the three anchor stores were Sears on the south side, JC Penney in the middle and Lazarus/Macy's on the north side. The store I worked in was right outside the mall entrance to Sears. About 1987, just out of curiosity, I asked our Manager what the rent was for our store. What he told me floored me. I forget the actual dollar amount (but I am close) but I remember the percentage. He said the monthly rent was $2.000.00 PLUS 4% of the gross and 5% in December. That food Court was not always a food court. I forget what store was there before. Also, each individual store had a backroom with storage space and a water closet. And then behind the storage room there was a hallway that led outside for deliveries. Above the dropped ceilings - I'll bet there is quite a mess! Every store had their own requirements for wires and power.
