If you were laying on your side with a peanut ball between your ankles (might be another feasible way)! (I heard someone else mention it.) Thank you for helping women not push straight on their backs in the position that has the least amount of hip opening!!

Hips need to be stacked and rest of the body needs to be aligned with the hips to avoid twisting. Check out spinning babies side lying release instructions l.

So is this for not when you active labour yet? Is there a move you have in your repertoire for increasing contraction strength and frequency? I.e. as an alternative for oxtycoin. How about a move for a baby who is head down but is facing the side preventing them from coming down all the way? Really wish the nurses and midwives in Ontario were familiar with the methods you share in this video series during my first delivery..

How many minutes be in this position?

We use it when contractions are regular (3-5 minutes apart) and we use it for 3 contractions.

That's the knee chest or open knee chest position. It's not a true forward leaning inversion, though, if you're intending to demonstrate the spinning babies technique. The inversion has the shoulders much lower than the knees. If she turned and faced towards the foot of the bed, resting on her forearms (not chest), and lowered the foot of the bed, then you would get the forward leaning inversion. Knee chest is a good position but it doesn't accomplish the same thing as the full inversion.

Could you do this in a supported lunge position to help open the hips at the same time?
