It's difficult to let go and it's easy to be filled with questions asking whether or not there was more we could have done. But after a year of retrospect, we know in our hearts we did everything we can to give her a fighting chance, and that we did our best with what we had to give her a life full of love ❤

So I have a question is a male or female ferret better?
@yt.ratgirlАй бұрын
That's a hard question to answer, as they each have their own unique qualities. We lost our girl of four years last year, and currently have two boys. Rat Girl was very independent, but very sweet and loving. The main difference we see is that the boys are more dependent, fall asleep just about anywhere, and love cuddles! Rat Girl wasn't a cuddler, but showed her affection in other ways

As a young adult i moves into an efficency which was previously a workshop on a car dealera lot and every wall was basically peg board aside from my bedroom. So i turned the entir dwelling into a massive wrap around wall paradise for my ferrets. I had something like 72 feet of tubing going everywhere. But their favorite thing was an old dresser...they forced me to convert into their "cage". It was 5 levels and each one took their own drawer. They would always bring THEIR favorite toya to their own levels and if you moved any to not the right drawer they would go retrieve them and put them back. I miss my little lannisters!
@yt.ratgirlАй бұрын
Having that much tubes would be the dream! We recently upgraded them to a ferret nation cage, and they love bringing their toys inside or just under it Every night before they put themselves to bed, they 'rearrange' their toys multiple times and it's so cute to see!

@@yt.ratgirl ferrets are so incredibly smart. I train animals for a living, specifically dogs, but the first animals I trained were ferrets because of Starship Troopers lmao! Trained to attack my sister
@BoinkrNanisАй бұрын
@yt.ratgirl i got that tism lmao so behavioral patterns is easy fir me. Trained everything from birds to rabbits to an octopus to a shrimp doing the wave for food. Ferrets were so easy though.

Ferrets are meant for the cat/dog life. Take them on walks, let them roam as big a space in your home you can provide them, and give them lots of attention!

Exactly! It would be cruel to keep them caged their whole lives

Do lots of research on their health, enclosure setup, play time, etc. because these little noodles are fragile creatures There are lots of resources available on the r/ferrets subreddit as well as their discord server. I highly recommend you check them out! They have guides on what to feed, which brands are good for them, cage setup ideas, and more I also recommend the channel The Modern Ferret, she also has informative videos on how to care for ferrets

HIII!!! I love it channel!! I’ve been wanting a ferret now for about 3 years. My parents are against it though mainly because of the smell! Do you know how to get rid of that or is there anything I did to know about it?
@yt.ratgirl2 ай бұрын
Ferrets definitely have a smell, but ferrets that are sold Petco (Marshall Ferrets) are already de-scented - so they really don't have a smell It's important to keep in mind that ferrets require a lot of love, care, and attention. They're also fragile creatures and medical cost can run pretty high. There are a lot of resources out there, so if you're serious about getting a ferret - make sure to do a lot of research about their care
@WalkersWifeee2 ай бұрын
@@yt.ratgirl thank you! Do you have any big tips on how to take care of them? I’m a teenager Around 13-16 And I really want a ferret and I’ve done some research but I do understand they’re a lot of work! I would love any advice:)(
@yt.ratgirlАй бұрын
They're awake roughly 4 to 6 hours a day - so make sure to spend that time with them out of their enclosures playing and bonding with them. The channel 'The Modern Ferret' has some great videos on how to bond and how to care for these creatures. I think she also goes over the best types of toys and enrichment. There are toys that should be avoided as they can cause blockages. There's also a reddit/discord server dedicated to ferrets where you can discuss with other owners. Lots of great resources on what to feed and which brands are trusted. You can also ask questions about their health and diet in there. Also, you should monitor their behavior closely as any change can be an indication of health issues. Ideally you'll also monitor their poop for any irregularities and their weight for any massive changes. For reference, we monitor their poop daily and weigh them once a week. They're a lot of work, sure, but they're worth it and we want to give them the best life they can have.

@@WalkersWifeee They definitely are a lot of work, and a lot of money to care for. But if you're up for the challenge once you're able, they're super sweet, adorable, and fun pets!
