I discovered Nightwish 2 years ago. I like Floor more because Tarya sounds to much operatic to me. That is just what I do not like that much. But that is personal. I like more a rock voice with occasional some operatic vibes. Just personal taste. Tarya has a fantastic voice as well, no doubt.

Thanks for the reaction. Floor fanboy here ... however it doesn't stop to listen and enjoy Tarja singing as well. Both versions are pure gold dust. And also the official video on Nemo with Tarja is great. I listen to all 3 versions. Every version brings something different to the table. Having had 3 singers in their history has one BIG benefit ... it extends the NW catalog enormously and keeps it interesting.

JuliettJess good reaction but you don't need to be afraid to choose who you prefer, as you said we all have different tastes, I for example think Tarja is a good singer but she is only good at operatic and rock vocals she is weak, Floor is very versatile, she sings all types of vocals and her stage presence is incredible, so without being afraid to give her opinion, Floor is by far the best.

Team Floor the Valkyrie of NW for over ten years! Anyone wanting the past should go play their old albums like people do for, say Elvis. The world moves on. There was a reason Tarja left, she thought SHE had risen above them, yet she is still out there singing Tuomas’songs, recreating her very best past that now is represented happily by Floor Jansen!

there is one live on stage duet from 2013. Female Voices of Metal Festival IX (9) in Belgium. Tarja invited Floor to join her on stage. They did the Gary Moor song NW 1st covered in the year 2000, Over the Hills and Far Away. Yes there is a Tarja led video of that. Tarja asks for love,no hate to Floor. They have been friends since 2003 and before accepting the job offer with NW as a permanent member she did seek Tarja's blessings. No job worth losing a friend over. Knowing the public history obviouslly Floor does not want her friend to be upset if she joined up. Luckily for Floor's fans Tarja lived up to her reputatiin by giving said blessing. A generous, kind sweet, silly and humble woman. Otherwise you can see them together in IG streams There is a concert with both of them from their respective homes . Anything else claiming to be a duet is a fake.

I was already a casual fan of Nightwish in the 2000s, owning a couple of their CDs. I became a more serious fan once I heard Floor performing the old tracks. Also watching Floor's live performances is much more enjoyable for me - Tarja at that time, exhibited some peculiar mannerisms that I find hard to take seriously. 🇬🇧🤘🤘

This is a perfect example, of how - as good as the studio version is (and it IS very good!) - the live concert (especially Pulse 94) is practically another song... but even if you wouldn't go that far, just watching him emote THROUGH his guitar and the artistry of his physical note-bending along with his facial expressions, is why live performances are so much more real and valuable! Another example would be VNV Nation's 'Sound of Silence' - in that case, I would encourage you to watch BOTH the music video as well as the live version - oddly enough, on the Tonight Show! - but in that case, they BOTH have unique performance value... in the case of the music video, the story-telling (and great msic and vocals too of course..); in the case of the live version, the emoting and vocal fry (aided in that case by the fact the David Draiman was actually sick at the time, which actually added to the vocal fry technique)

As far as "The Wall" album (which this is from), you should actually listen to the entire album before you listen to any single songs from it. It's a Rock Opera, so it's best to listen to one record side (originally double vinyl, so 4 record sides). Each record side is like an Act in a play, and that's how it was intended to be listened to, especially the first time. It's a complete experience, much different than listening to a few singles. The production on that album is the best... 🤙😎

I love Floor, but Nightwish just wouldn’t be the same with out all three singers. Tuomas wrote songs for certain vocalists so some songs just fit with each one.🤘🎸
