The only way I would use an nd filter or any kind of filter is if I had a planned sequence of vidoes and the light was ALL the same during those takes. If you are doing candid walk around "filming' how on earth are you going to deal with those little fiddly filters in time to get ready without losing the moment?

The auto focus in general needs a bit of work, or DJI need to give us more control. Tracking works really well and will keep focus, but every other time it just feels like it's all over the place. I wish you could turn on tracking autofocus, but the gimbal doesn't move. Sometimes even when I tap to focus, it will go back to focusing on the centre.

I'm exactly the same. Been going out everyday, playing around in diff conditions, so I can capture the memories in the best quality I can. I also got the phantom LUT's but I have dark skin, and always need to add a bit of magenta in because it tends to look too yellow. I use -0.3ev mainly because of my skin color.

I bought the ZV-1 but I hardly use it purely because of the poor image stabilisation, any tips to make improve this?
@Jus10videoАй бұрын
I don’t walk while shooting that much because of this. My advice is keep it as steady as possible and use more static shots. I know it’s not what you might want to hear, but yeah. Stabilization isn’t that good.

I’m team no ND filter on my zve1. Let the shutter crank to astronomical levels. For content creation, it’s not worth the hassle. Maybe the pocket 4 will have a bigger head and more space to allow friction fit filters that are larger. Also, a gimbal lock feature would be great.

I agree with you. I have ND filters but to use them properly you need to use manual settings and make adjustments every time lighting conditions change. Too much effort for a camera that is supposed to be quick and easy. If you are into making short films and cinematic stuff then Filters are great. You're right. Sure if people are shooting professionally, the expectation is for professional "cinematic" footage. BUT for folks trying to capture memories of trips or vacations or events with family or friends, capturing a spontaneous action is important (rather than missing it bcs you were changing ND filters). Just let casual users think of it as there point and shoot gimbal video camera ... don't drain the life out of it by making it overly complicated. 😉🙃
@thisisshah2 ай бұрын
Good vid man. I do own the pocket 3 and the nd filters but I agree with you. I think if the topic of your video is good most people won’t care if it’s perfectly cinematic or not. There shouldn’t be any shaming if someone chooses not to use it. I like using a filter and setting the ISO to auto. It works fine for me but I’ve shot without filters and it’s fine too.
@Jus10video2 ай бұрын
Agree. The filters are great and I do the auto iso thing as well. Just not when I’m on the go trying to capture moments with m family.
@DungarooTV2 ай бұрын
Your angle on this is very real...to be fair, ND filters does make the video more 'cinematic' by following the 180-degree rule, but let's face it - how many of us have the time to put the ND filters on when wanting to get footage on the go...moreover, for 90% of the time like home videos - there's honestly no need for ND filters but if you're making a film or some sort of artistic video log then perhaps planning these shoots with the ND filters on for the 'cinematic' look and feel with background motion blur etc is the way to go...my advice would be only buy ND filters when you have the spare cash to put them in your bag for the special occasions - as only for home videos, I seldom bring them out like you said!
@skf9572 ай бұрын
Whoever said that doing stuff right has to be easy? In this video I can clearly see the janky-cranky digital effect of no motion blur. If that's what you like - fine. But, I think that the whole Pocket-3 is flawed and too much like hard work. Try actually putting it in "your pocket" regularly and find out what fails first: The gimbal (VERY fragile, as on my M4P, but that never gets put away without the protector on), or, the gimbal through the ingestion of "pocket lint" (dust). And don't even think of using it in the rain... I just bought the Action-4 due to its resistance to dust and water, and I will be using ND filters. But, each to their own.
@Jus10video2 ай бұрын
All good points. Also, I really hope DJI will put a sensor similar to the pocket 3’s sensor in an action cam body for more durability.

Well said. I have the original Pocket, AND the Pocket 3 and I don't use any filters, ever, on either of them. They are sufficiently well designed and engineered to deliver perfectly good quality video without the need for the extra expense and kerfuffle of add-on filters. Those who swear by them can keep them. Good for them. I'm perfectly happy with my unadorned Pocket 3's lens!

If you're shooting outside during the day with the OP3, then yes you should use ND filters if you want to capture natural motion blur. But, if you don't mind the jittering effects of a high shutter speed setting, then sure do whatever you want.

I just bought a GoPro hero 12 and I love it. I was considering getting a gimbal, but the pocket 2 can be had now for about twice the price of the gimbal. Any thoughts on whether you think the pocket 2 is worth it in 2024? It’s under $300 now and readily available. I’m mostly going to use it alongside my hero 12, but for lower light conditions. I know the pocket three has great low light capability, but it looks like the pocket two is no slouch with low light. I would love your thoughts. Do you think it’s worth it in 2024 since it’s under $300 now?
@Jus10video2 ай бұрын
I am not too familiar with the pocket 2. I n my opinion, a 1” sensor is the smallest I would go for low light shooting. I’d look for a used Sony zv-1 in that price range.
