They have three options. 1:give the ability to solo. 2:provide longer term items into mini game. Resources or whatever. 3:add npc that are pretty effective but not busted in mini games to fill a minimum player count.

2001-2005 runescape was a niche game that housed no more then 20000 players max we know more about it then you give us credit jagex q/a have been wiki tized among other points but the era of computing and potential player base is where it really points too

it's annoying to me that some of the task set involves you playing some minigames, but the minigames are dead :') like no ardougne cape for me because i can't solo fishing trawler (i know there are methods but skill issue)

Great video! One important correction is that RuneScape 2 came out on the 29th of March 2004, not 2006

I used to love questing until I did Secrets of the North. Most puzzles would take a long time to players guess them by themselves or are simply skippable if you read a guide. And Desert Treasure 2 made things even worse, because you're already stressed enough with beating all those bosses.

All i have to say about quests, obviously not the most fun, but going from 176 to 301QP in 1-2 months made my account feel like I progressed more in that time than the years it took me to get to that point. A necessary evil for a main, but completing the quests is one of the mile posts marking a comfortable entry to the end game if you aren't already destroying stuff.

People don't like quests because jagex made everyone lazy with bonds and all the deals on keys. Quests aren't instant gratification and people think it's funny and cool to hate on quests anyways. 449 qp here but I say let the noobs be noobs. Jagex definitely doesn't need to make every quest give you something op so nothing needs to change.

Players don't like quests because they're cowards. Questing is actually one of the best aspects of this game, imo. The writers do a fantastic job. Also, RS3 just sucks in general, but the quests stayed good. I only gave up because EoC just bogged down the whole thing so severely.

My thoughts after watching the whole video: Just enjoy quests as they are. Don't worry too much about big, lofty goals. Don't see the requirements you need for a big lategame quest as stuff you just need to "get out of the way." Also, don't use the quest helper plugin. Or at least use it with minimal settings. It's just gonna make the experience so much worse for you, as everything becomes mind-numbingly boring and you don't need to think or pay attention. Think of it as a fun diversion from the grind of the rest of the game, not a "3 hour xp waste" or whatever.

@ImSerkex oh for sure, can't argue that. I just think it's a rotten mentality that creates a toxic community and really just sucks the fun out of the game. I mean it's a video game! It's sole purpose is to be fun! And when I see the issues that people are complaining so much about I don't see very many of them as Jagex problems as much as they are the toxic playerbase. It's not Jagex that killed mini games, it's players that won't play them because they could get far higher xp rates doing the same thing as everyone else that they saw a video on to maximize every waking moment they spend in game. They won't even consider doing anything else. It's no wonder they aren't having any fun. I've talked to players with trimmed max capes who haven't even touched some content because it wasn't a requirement. They just power rush thru everything to reach that end goal and then act like there's nothing to do in the game... it's like you said in this video, it's not that quests aren't great and fun content, it's just that that same person can get 200k thieving xp pickpocketing in the same time 🙄 Anyways, sorry to rant, and thanks for taking the time to respond. Keep up the good work

@@joshmonaco6170People don't play mini games because they're all hidden and no NPC mentions them at all. Similar to the poorly diologued quests that were based off a hint system that no longer exists with a community that doesn't talk anymore.

Whenever I see an almost maxed account with under 150 quest points, it feels so weird to me. Treat quests as content, and not just things that unlock other things, and they're fun. (Minus the really bad ones like legends, ratcatchers, succession or salt in the wound) Also, quest helper is mostly terrible, imo. Downgrades quests to the same level as a mobile mmo's "here, click this next thing" quests.

Depending on whether you mean on Oldschool or RuneScape 3 is needed for context. But xp rates on Rs3 somewhat encourage players to spend time leveling rather than bossing. Min/Max mentality has always been bad in RuneScape, however the time put in to quests unless you properly enjoy them is not worth it to a lot of people

Great Video I am a lorehound with a Master Quest Cape (almost. I have a couple of tasks left). And I have done rs3 speedruns of the game, and thus done the early to mid-game quests heaps of times. Quests are the best part of the game. I love quests Are quests worth your time? No They are not. The Rewards have not aged with the meta. For it to be worth you're time you need a guide, otherwise it's a waste of time. And Playing with a guide, you take away away what makes the quest fun. Quests Requirements are really bad the further you go in the 6th Age the worse it gets. The latest quest Battle of Forinthry doesn't have Succession as a requirement. Even the 5th Age and OSRS have a bit of that. Vampire Slayer isn't a requirement for Desert Treasure. While questing you will do things out of order just because the quest journal didn't tell you need this quest done or you forget to read the quest summary screen telling you a quest is in the 6th Age. OSRS has Quest Helper which is great, but it is still a guide. Some low levels RS3 have some built-in direction. Quests are the best part of Runescape the stories are great. (The newer quests aren't that bad. They have some cool moments. It's not Ratcatchers) The problem isn't the content of the quest themselves. It's just everything else. Quest Points are pointless, The Rewards Suck and thus they take way to long. You don't get given the content to enjoy the story and you're using a guide.

I would if stuff I needed or wanted wasn't locked behind things I don't want to do. Want to do something basic? You must do a quest. Want to go to a new area? Quest that has no business being there to just enter. Want to cast a spell in the regular spell book? Quest. Want to engage with a skill that does not need an intro? Quest. New activity? You must have the lore shoved down your throat in a way that will cause the overwhelming majority of players to just skip it rather than seek it out.
