Another thing you can do for breakfast is have your students sit at a certain table if you have extra space. That way those students get to interact with other kids, but they are still mostly focused on eating.

Love this idea!! My long term sub did this & I was thinking about trying it out but forgot when filming this video lol. Thanks for the reminder!

One thing I started toward the end of the year that I loved and wished I had started sooner was doing a 30-60 second mindful breathing video after recess. I feel like it helped the students transition from playing hard outside to math block. When we came in from recess, I would turn the lights off and we would sit in the carpet. I had a rowdy group this year and it saved me toward the end of the year 😅.
@lifewithmrsleet370823 күн бұрын
LOVE that!! How were you able to get the kids to take it seriously? Whenever I do breathing I feel like I always have a kid who’s too cool for it and breathes obnoxiously loud, etc lol

@@lifewithmrsleet3708 they thought it was silly at first but I just kept doing it and eventually they actually loved it 🤣

Love the idea of students decorating quotes posters- can you tell me where you get the quotes and the directions you give your students regarding decorating them? Is this something you do at the beginning of the year?

Love this vlog! I teach first grade and they all loved the birthday board! I also got them little gift bags for their birthdays and pre-made them ahead of time. Tried not to go overboard on the expense but it was a huge hit for the kids all year long. We celebrated the summer birthdays in May before school ended, so that nobody was left out.

Oh yay! So glad you enjoyed it. Love this. I did have birthday gifts, a little plushie key chain & pencil. I just didn’t have a place where their birthdays were written. Definitely missed it!! I love how you celebrated summer birthdays before school got out, I had several this year & they were very considered about how they would get their birthday gifts 💞

Our school has WIN time, which is also an intervention block. For the first time this year, I created videos on concepts that needed to be reinforced, and then I would assign them on Google Classroom. The videos were very basic. I just used my document camera to show the page as I explained. It was a "we do" type of experience so my kids would follow along and complete the page with me. My kids absolutely loved it because they could pause as they needed, listen to something again, etc. I loved it because felt like I was being more intentional with what they were working on, and it was extra practice that we did "together." Also, kids could work on it at any time during the block, so they were never "missing" anything. It was always there. I will definitely be doing this again. Hope this helps! I'm glad to see your family doing so well, and I'm loving your videos! Take care! ❤

I have a 4 year old and she was 4lbs when she was born so I was terrified to take her anywhere at first because she was so tiny. The car seat buckle took up her whole body. But I feel confident that if I have another baby, I won’t feel as terrified lol

Agree with all your life lessons. I'm in my 40's now, but wish I had accepted more help in my 20's and spent more time with my parents and extended family. I felt like I had to prove I had everything together and could do it on my own, when really those who care about you want to help.

This is so incredibly sweet ❤ just a loving reminder that babies really need their face completely clear at all times. Suffocation can happen so quickly. I have no doubt you're keeping such a close eye on your little one, but it can happen so fast. Also just for anyone else watching- there are so many ways to keep your baby warm, and this can be a good option as long as it's unzipped around their face.
