a great baitfish pattern and thank you for the tying techniques. the hook is a standard tarpon hook that is sticky sharp and penetrates bony mouths. also, the video looks great.

A combination of both, going to a local fly shop for stuff you need and go to the craft store for stuff that's affordable. Fly tying is an art. Why not be creative in purchasing items.

a lot of online shops carry them. They are double pupil lead eyes. I think hareline makes these specific ones.

My absolute best day carp fishing was on an HOA lake where sterile grass carp were introduced to control hydrilla. I had spent many hours chasing these fish with only one or two to show for it. Go out one morning and they were feeding on the surface. Tied on a white betts popper and proceeded to catch 3 in less than an hour. Best day ive had on the water. I have a video on my channel because as luck would have it, I happened to be recording that day.
@honeyholeangling2 ай бұрын
I am going to check out that video. Feel free to link it below!
Great video. Only suggestion would be to change the black background to a lighter colour which will help to show off the fly better. :)
@honeyholeangling2 ай бұрын
We keep tinkering with different colors... but cant make up our mind. It might have to be fly specific.
@dazzhan98262 ай бұрын
@@honeyholeangling Generally light colours in grey, green or blue are the best. Your camera does a good job of just focusing on the fly, so the lighter background will turn into a blur anyway.

With 24 hr. cooling you could take it on a day/overnight (1.5 or 2 day) camping trip or kayak camping trip. It seems like it would keep your stuff cold all-day and when you stop for the night, you'd have cold beer to drink at your campsite, cold hot dogs or other meat to cook up. and even keep your things cold into the next day. That's what I bought it for. I needed something that would fold up or flatten out to pack with my inflatable kayak for when I fly to travel for a weekend kayak/camp trip. Have some trips planned and this cooler seems perfect.
@honeyholeangling2 ай бұрын
I agree with this 100%. I wouldn't have any problem with taking it on a 1-2 day overnight trip.

Hobby Looby has metallic and pearlized “shred” located in the isle with the wrapping paper. A bag is $1.99 and much cheaper than flashabou! You can cut it to narrow it for tie-in. Works great!

Ive seen that before in some places. I have a big stack of it at home. Works great!!

Always thought that learning to tie your own flies meant saving money all the way around but the materials you might as well just buy the flies as much as the materials and all the equipment cost and the quality feathers I'm not sure what that means is there a super chicken or superbird that they're getting these quality feathers off of what's the difference between the peacock hackle sold in the fly shop and my mom's in the yard
@honeyholeangling3 ай бұрын
Tying flies doesn't save any money. if you really get into the hobby, you will spend a lot on materials to try different things. Check out Whiting farms. They raise chickens that are bred for fly tying. there is a big difference between those and what you will find at hobby lobby. The peakcock you find in the yard will work great for fly tying! Id be saving all of those feathers for tying myself.
